INJURIES

On bench Sunday Perez is not starting Sunday's series finale against the Royals.
Impact Perez enjoyed his best game of the season Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Homers in consecutive games have the 32-year-old at five heading into the All-Star break, though he's primed for a bigger second half after being limited to only 24 games by a finger injury. Austin Hedges is catching and batting eighth Sunday.

Out of lineup Perez will be on the bench for Friday's game against the Royals.
Impact Perez will sit for the second time in three games despite homering Thursday. Austin Hedges takes over behind the plate in his absence.
JULY 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Cracks late go-ahead homer Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday against the Royals.
Impact Perez took Scott Barlow deep with two out in the eighth inning to give Cleveland a 4-3 lead, the fourth homer of the year for Perez. The veteran catcher returned from a two-month injury absence July 4 and, after going hitless in his first game back, has managed a hit in each of his last three games (3-for-12). It's at least a small measure of progress for Perez, who was slashing just .131/.274/.295 in 73 plate appearances at the time of his injury.
JULY 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
On bench for Game 2 Perez isn't starting Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Impact Perez will get a breather after he went 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout in Wednesday's matinee. Austin Hedges will start at catcher and bat eighth.
JULY 7, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Roberto Perez is back and three other things about the Cleveland Indians Catcher Roberto Perez, who played his last game for the Indians on May 3, has been activated and will start Sunday against the Astros.
JULY 4, 2021 • CLEVELAND.COM
Not in Saturday's lineup Perez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Astros.
Impact Perez was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday after he missed two months with a finger injury, but he won't be in the lineup for his first game after rejoining the 26-man roster. Austin Hedges will start behind the dish and bat eighth.
JULY 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Saturday activation expected Cleveland is likely to activate Perez (finger) from the 60-day injured list before Saturday's game against the Astros, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Impact Perez, who suffered the finger injury May 3, has been rehabbing with Triple-A Columbus since June 23, going 2-for-15 with four walks in those games. Though he hit just .131 before the injury, the 32-year-old will likely return to the top of Cleveland's offensively-inept catching depth chart.

Set to resume rehab Friday Cleveland manager Terry Francona said Perez (finger) will resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Impact Perez, who has been on the shelf since early May after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured finger on his left hand, has thus far appeared in six games during his rehab assignment, going 2-for-12 with a 3:4 BB:K. He was removed in his rehab game Wednesday after bruising his hand, but follow-up examinations revealed nothing concerning. After getting Thursday off to rest, Perez is expected to be ready to catch for Columbus on Friday in what should be his final rehab appearance. If Perez comes out of Friday's game fine, Cleveland could activate him as soon as Saturday.

JULY 1, 2021 • Associated Press
Exits rehab game Perez (finger) exited his rehab game at Double-A Akron on Tuesday after suffering a right hand contusion, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Impact Perez was reportedly hit by a ball, though it's not clear if the injury occurred when he was hitting or behind the plate. Per Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal, manager Terry Francona said that the injury is nothing to be concerned about. Perez may need to take a day or two off before getting back behind the dish, but he should continue to stay on track for a mid-July activation from the 60-day IL.

Nearing rehab assignment Perez (finger) could be ready to go on a rehab assignment in the next week or so, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact Perez has been throwing for over a week, but it's unclear how much progress the catcher has made in his throwing program. Since he's on the 60-day injured list, the catcher isn't eligible to return until mid-July at the earliest.
