Escapes with no-decision Tuesday Gasser came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins, coughing up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over six innings. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.

Impact The rookie southpaw had a respectable 24 called or swinging strikes on his 80 pitches, but Gasser mostly pitched to contact and watched a number of grounders make it past the Brewers' infield defenders. He left the game in line for his first loss in the majors, but Milwaukee rallied in the eighth inning. Gasser will take a 2.65 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB through 17 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come this weekend in Boston.

Impact Gasser was solid in his second big-league outing, allowing just one run in the third inning while the Brewers exploded for 10 runs in a convincing victory. The 24-year-old southpaw has allowed just one run through 11 innings in his first two starts after posting a 5.25 ERA in three outings with Triple-A Nashville. Gasser figures to stick in Milwaukee's rotation while DL Hall (knee) is sidelined. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start.

To pitch in extended spring game Gasser (elbow) will throw two innings in an extended spring training game Saturday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Impact Gasser was diagnosed with a bone spur in his left elbow in late March but is ready to test things out in game action. The left-hander was going to begin the season at Triple-A Nashville, though he had arguably been the top candidate to receive a promotion when the Brewers needed a starter. He could work his way back into being under consideration for the big club once he proves his health.

Racking up strikeouts at Triple-A Gasser went 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB in 18.0 innings over his last four starts with Triple-A Nashville.

Impact Gasser was knocked around a bit in July, but he has bounced back in a big way, striking out at least nine batters in all three of his August starts and keeping opposing baserunners to a minimum. Gasser has never pitched at the big-league level, but there's a chance he could do so before the campaign comes to a close.

Impact Gasser owned a 5.36 ERA as recently as May 30, but thanks to his latest stretch that mark has fallen more than a full run since. He is one of the better pitching prospects in Milwaukee's system, and if he can continue limiting the walks -- and in turn the runs -- he could garner consideration should the Brewers need to bring up a starter from the minors.
