Beavers' 9th-inning homer gives Orioles 6-5 win, assures Rays 2nd straight losing season

Dylan Beavers homered on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Baltimore Orioles a 6-5 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in their home finale

Losing hold of platoon role Palacios is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Palacios seemed to have taken hold of a strong-side platoon role upon his return from the 60-day injured list Sept. 1, but he's now been out of the lineup for three straight matchups with right-handed pitchers. The Rays will go with Bob Seymour at first base for the second day in a row.

Out of lineup again Tuesday Palacios is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Impact After starting four times during a five-game stretch, Palacios has now been absent from the lineup for three consecutive contests. The Rays have Bob Seymour handling first base Tuesday.

Excluded from starting nine Palacios is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Palacios will take a seat for the second day in a row, this time against a right-handed starter (Trey Yesavage) after he was withheld from the starting nine Sunday against lefty Shota Imanaga. Since returning from the 60-day injured list Sept. 1, Palacios has gone 4-for-21 with three walks. That modest level of production may prompt the Rays to view Palacios as more of a part-time option rather than a locked-in strong-side platoon player.
SEPTEMBER 15 • ROTOWIRE
Taking seat Thursday Palacios is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the White Sox.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Palacios started each of the previous four contests against right-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat Thursday as the White Sox send righty Shane Smith to the hill. It's Bob Seymour in the designated hitter spot for the series finale.

First homer of 2025 Palacios went 1-for-2 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox.
Impact Palacios appeared in one game this season before being placed on the 60-day injured list with a fractured finger. Knee and hamstring injuries extended his stay on the IL, and he was finally activated Sept. 1. He hit his first home run of the campaign Tuesday, and he's 2-for-14 (.143) with three strikeouts since being reinstated from the injured list.

Another start at first base Palacios is starting at first base and batting seventh in Tuesday's game versus the White Sox.
Impact Palacios made his first professional start at first base Saturday against the Guardians, and he's back at the position Tuesday. It's his third straight start overall against right-handed pitching. The 28-year-old has missed most of this season with myriad injuries, but he could see regular reps versus righties down the stretch.

Returns from 60-day IL The Rays activated Palacios (knee/hamstring) from the 60-day injured list Monday.
Impact Palacios has been limited to just one game for the Rays this season, first due to a fractured finger and more recently because of knee and hamstring problems. However, the 28-year-old recently played nine rehab games with Triple-A Durham -- going 6-for-33 with two home runs -- and is ready to rejoin the big club. Palacios should see a decent amount of playing time during the final month between second base and the outfield.
