Removed from 40-man roster Cleveland designated Palacios for assignment Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Impact Palacios is now off the 40-man roster, and Cleveland needed the room for Cody Morris after Morris was reinstated off the 60-day injured list. In 217 at-bats with Triple-A Columbus, Palacios has hit .217 with a .669 OPS, and the 26-year-old will now be subject to the waiver wire with a chance to return to the Guardians' organization if he goes unclaimed or isn't dealt.

Impact Palacios didn't make a strong case for a bench spot this spring, posting a .618 OPS over nine games.
