Impact Detmers had allowed at least three runs in eight straight outings before being sent to Triple-A Salt Lake at the beginning of June. He was able to post a quality start in his return, throwing 68 of 100 pitches for strikes. That poor stretch earlier in the year will be tough to overcome in the season-long numbers, which have Detmers at a 5.87 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 80:29 K:BB through 69 innings over 13 starts. He's expected to remain in the rotation moving forward as the Angels roll with six starts, which puts him in line to make his next start at Minnesota.

With the Angels recently adding rookies Jack Kochanowicz, Caden Dana and Samuel Aldegheri to a rotation that already included Tyler Anderson and Griffin Canning, the promotion of Detmers now gives the club six starters. The Angels could keep a six-man rotation in place over the final four weeks of the season to help limit the innings of the young starters while also affording them an additional day of rest between starts.
