Records 15th steal Mondesi went 0-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 7-3 loss to Minnesota.

Impact The 26-year-old ended 2021 with 15 steals in 16 attempts in just 35 games. Mondesi battled oblique and hamstring issues for much of the season, prompting a move to third base for much of September. He was held without a hit in six of his last 10 games, dropping his season slash line to .230/.271/.452 with six home runs, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored, a triple and eight doubles across 136 plate appearances. Mondesi may continue to log time at third base in 2022. He could also receive regular rest to help alleviate some of the toll of playing the field, although fantasy managers will obviously take notice of his speed when he's in the lineup.

Impact He'll get a routine maintenance day while Hanser Alberto checks in for him at third base. Over 21 games since returning from the injured list Sept. 1, Mondesi is slashing a meager .187/.237/.307, but he's worthy of a roster spot in every league thanks to a 13-for-13 success rate on stolen-base attempts.

Notches steal in loss Mondesi went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 8-3 loss to Cleveland.

Impact While it was Mondesi's first theft in his last five games, the infielder has now recorded 13 stolen bases in September. He's 14-for-15 on the basepaths this year while adding a .252/.292/.495 slash line across 116 plate appearances in an injury-riddled season, although a move to third base and regular rest has kept him in good shape recently.

Impact Mondesi reached base in the seventh on a fielder's choice and ended up stealing second before the inning concluded. The 25-year-old speedster now has four steals over his last five games and 11 overall in just 24 games this season. He's slashing .264/.297/.540 with 12 extra-base hits, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored and 3:31 BB:K over 93 plate appearances.

Productive in win Saturday Mondesi went 2-for-5 with a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in an 8-1 win over Seattle on Saturday.

Impact Mondesi twice used his speed to help the Royals add on to their run total. In the first inning, he notched an infield single that allowed Andrew Benintendi to cross the plate. In the third, he doubled, stole third and came around to score on a Michael Taylor double. Mondesi's theft was his third in four games, pushing his total to 10 on the campaign. The speedster has notched double-digit steals in each of the past four seasons.

Impact The infielder has now stolen bases in consecutive games after going five contests without a theft. Mondesi is 9-for-10 on the basepaths in 21 games this season. He's posted a .253/.291/.560 slash line with six home runs, 15 RBI and 13 runs scored across 81 plate appearances. While he was initially eased back into the lineup since returning from an oblique injury, he'll make his fourth straight start Thursday while manning the hot corner and batting fifth. Mondesi will likely continue to benefit from the occasional day as the designated hitter to relieve some of the injury risk of playing the field.

Despite the poor hitting, he's swatted two home runs and stolen seven bases in that span while settling in as Kansas City's primary third baseman. Injuries have made this a mostly lost season for the infielder, who has a .264/.284/.583 slash line across just 76 plate appearances.

Impact After Dozier drew a one-out walk, Mondesi replaced him at first base and tried to generate an insurance run with his legs, but Whit Merrifield and Nicky Lopez weren't able to bring him around once he got into scoring position. Mondesi now has six steals in four games since rejoining the Royals' roster at the beginning of the month in addition to going 4-for-13 at the plate with a homer, three RBI and four runs. The 26-year-old may not play every day as Kansas City tries to keep him healthy, but playing time could be the only thing holding him back in September.
