Evan Sisk - Returns to Pittsburgh The Pirates recalled Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Impact Sisk was optioned to the minors last Wednesday, but he'll now return to the big leagues to replace Kyle Nicolas, who went on the bereavement list Friday. Sisk has appeared in nine MLB games this season between the Royals and Pirates, giving up four earned runs while striking out 15 batters and walking six over 8.2 innings.

Kyle Nicolas - Placed on bereavement list The Pirates placed Nicolas on the bereavement list Friday.

Impact Nicolas will be permitted to miss 3-7 games while he tends to more important matters. Evan Sisk was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move and will take Nicolas' place in Pittsburgh's bullpen.

Yohel Pozo - Placed on concussion injured list The Cardinals placed Pozo on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday.

Impact Pozo was able to remain in the game after being shaken up by a foul tip to the mask Thursday against the Pirates, but concussion symptoms eventually surfaced and he'll have to miss some time. The Cardinals will go with Jimmy Crooks and Pedro Pages at catcher while Pozo is sidelined.

Alec Burleson - Lands on IL with wrist inflammation The Cardinals placed Burleson on the 10-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation.

Impact After first tweaking his wrist last week and sitting out one game, Burleson had to be lifted from Thursday's contests versus the Pirates after aggravating the injury. He'll be eligible for activation Sept. 8, but the Cardinals have not offered a timetable for Burleson's return. Lars Nootbaar, Nathan Church and Jordan Walker should be the team's primary outfielders for now, though Victor Scott (ankle) is due back next week and would likely displace Church from that group.
