Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, OH
Jose Barrero - Advances to Triple-A Barrero will make his Triple-A debut for Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Barrero jumped all the way from High-A to the big-leagues last season but looked clearly overmatched, hitting .194/.206/.194 in 68 plate appearances. He's back on a standard development track this season. His promotion to Triple-A is well-earned based in his performance at Double-A Chattanooga, where he hit .300/.367/.481 with six homers and eight steals in 40 games.

Spencer Howard - Committing to starter's role Howard will pitch every fifth day for Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will stretch out to 100 pitches, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact The Phillies are not going to rush Howard's return to the big leagues. Rather, they will give the righty ample time to develop as a starting pitcher instead of keeping him in a frequently changing role as both a starter and reliever.

Spencer Howard - Optioned to Triple-A The Phillies optioned Howard to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
Impact The righty has been able to pitch neither effectively nor deep into games, as he has a 5.82 ERA and has lasted no longer than four innings in any outing this season. Howard had been serving as the Phillies' sixth starter, but the return of Jean Segura (groin) required a demotion somewhere on the roster.

Aristides Aquino - Scratched from lineup Aquino was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against San Diego, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact The Reds didn't mention any injury for Aquino, and it's very possible that he's completely healthy. The team's lineup was adjusted following the news that lefty Blake Snell was scratched from his start for the Padres due to an illness and would be replaced by righty Craig Stammen. That would seemingly explain the switch from Aquino to the left-handed Shogo Akiyama in center field.

Jean Segura - Activated from IL The Phillies will activate Segura (groin) from the 10-day injured list before Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact As expected, Segura return for Tuesday's series opener after missing nearly two weeks with a Grade 1 strain to his left groin. The infielder was on an absolute tear before the injury, hitting .373 with four doubles, a triple and eight RBI in his last 12 games. Now that he's healthy once again, Segura figures to slot in as Philadelphia's everyday second baseman, relegating Brad Miller to a backup role. The Phillies have yet to announce a corresponding roster move.

The Enquirer On Sunday, Sean Doolittle threw his first slider and his first change-up of the year. More changes are coming.

Tucker Barnhart - On bench against lefty Barnhart will sit against southpaw Blake Snell and the Padres on Tuesday.
Impact Barnhart hasn't started against a lefty all season, so it's no surprise he'll hit the bench here. Tyler Stephenson takes over behind the plate as usual.
