Finds work with Seattle Severino signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday and was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Impact Severino attending spring training with the Padres and accepted an assignment at Triple-A El Paso after failing to win a spot on the Friars' Opening Day roster. He performed well at El Paso to the tune of a .286/.400/.476 slash line in 75 plate appearances, but with a promotion to the big leagues not imminent, he was granted his release from San Diego last week. Severino quickly caught on with Seattle, but he'll still likely find himself no better than third on the organizational depth chart at catcher behind Cal Raleigh and Tom Murphy.

Impact Severino will be joining the big club for the first time this season after he was handed an 80-game suspension shortly before Opening Day due to a violation of MLB's performance-enhancing drugs policy. Prior to his suspension, Severino had been slated to serve as the primary backup to Omar Narvaez, but that role will seemingly belong to Victor Caratini moving forward. As a result, Severino has dabbled at first base during his recent 12-game rehab assignment between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville, and he'll also be an option at designated hitter if the Brewers want to get another right-handed bat in the lineup.
