JJ Bleday - Bows out Monday Bleday is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Impact Bleday started Oakland's first 11 games in August and posted an .898 OPS over the last six contests, but manager Mark Kotsay decided it was time for a day off. Bleday most frequently lined up in left field over the last week or so, but Esteury Ruiz will slide over and cover that spot Monday night.

Cody Thomas - Returns to minors Thomas was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Impact Thomas spent more than a month with the big club and held his own when out there, but he only started four games for the A's after the calendar flipped to August, so he will head back to the minors and presumably see action more regularly.
AUGUST 14, 2023 ROTOWIRE
Freddy Tarnok - Lands on injured list Tarnok was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday.
Impact Tarnok appeared set to make another start for Oakland, but he will instead spend at least a couple weeks on the injured list. It's unclear what is ailing him, so a precise target date for his return is uncertain.
AUGUST 14, 2023 ROTOWIRE
Spenser Watkins - Recalled by Oakland Watkins was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Impact Watkins was assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas after being claimed off waivers by the A's last week, but he is now set to receive his first big-league opportunity with his new club. It's unclear what role he will fill, but he has started 11 Triple-A games this season, so he looks like the leading candidate to replace the injured Freddy Tarnok (undisclosed) in Oakland's rotation.
AUGUST 14, 2023 ROTOWIRE
Tony Kemp - Rejoins roster Kemp (personal) was activated from the paternity list Monday.
Impact Kemp missed all of Oakland's weekend series against the Nationals following the birth of his child, but he has rejoined both the club and the roster and will be available moving forward.
AUGUST 14, 2023 ROTOWIRE
Lawrence Butler - Laces first two big-league hits Butler went 2-for-8 with two doubles -- his first two big-league hits -- over the two weekend games against the Nationals.
Impact Butler drew starts in each installment of the three-game interleague set against the Nationals and laced both of his first two big-league hits for extra bases. The promising prospect has now toiled at three professional levels this season and has encouragingly struck out just twice over his first 12 big-league plate appearances.
AUGUST 14, 2023 ROTOWIRE
Kirby Snead - Takes first loss Sunday Snead (1-1) took the loss against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk without recording an out.
Impact Snead was called on to put out the fire after Trevor May was bounced around for five runs (three earned) over two-thirds of an inning, but the left-hander wasn't up to the task, either. Snead issued a bases-loaded walk to the first batter he faced, Dominic Smith, and then saw the final three runs cross the plate courtesy of a fielding error by Nick Allen and a Jeter Downs game-winning RBI single. Snead hadn't allowed a run in the previous 3.1 innings covering his last four appearances, and despite the stumble Sunday, he still carries a solid 3.38 ERA over his first seven outings.
