Receives cortisone shot for wrist Piscotty was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cubs with wrist soreness and received a cortisone injection, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 30-year-old has no official timeline for his return but will be sidelined for at least a few days. Piscotty's availability for Opening Day is now up in the air, as the matchup with the Astros is less than two weeks away. Oakland's outfield depth is currently being tested with Ramon Laureano (side) also sitting out spring games.

Hits slow to come Canha is hitting .176 (3-for-17) with seven walks, a stolen base and one run across his first nine Cactus League games.
Impact The veteran notched back-to-back one-single performances March 7 and 9, but he's just 1-for-7 over his subsequent four games and is still in search of his first extra-base hit this spring. However, the seven bases on balls do corroborate Canha's batting eye is as sharp as ever after he generated the two highest walk rates of his career the last two seasons (13.5 percent and 15.2 percent). Canha presumably still remains a candidate to lead off on occasion after being labeled as such early in spring training, with his respective .396 and .387 on-base percentages in 2019 and 2020 certainly helping make his case as a viable top-of-the-order option.

Bat starting to come around Lowrie, who went 0-for-8 with a walk in his first four Cactus League games, is 3-for-6 with two doubles, a solo home run and three runs overall in his last two exhibitions.
Impact The veteran left the yard Tuesday against Madison Bumgarner in the loss to the Diamondbacks. which Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports marked the first hit of any kind for Lowrie in a major-league game since September 29, 2018. Manager Bob Melvin had consistently praised the balance of the switch-hitting Lowrie's swings from either side of the plate all spring, and the last two games, the ball is starting to fall in. Gallegos adds that Lowrie's latest surge is not only helping him secure a roster spot as a likely platoon mate for Tony Kemp at second base, but it's also strengthening his candidacy to hit No. 2 in the order.
