Oswald Peraza - Doing defensive drills Peraza (ankle) went through defensive drills Thursday in the Bronx, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Impact The next step for Peraza could be a minor-league rehab assignment, possibly getting underway this weekend. He was placed on the 10-day injured list May 9, retroactive to May 6, primarily because he was having trouble moving laterally on defense. His right ankle sprain was always considered minor and he appears on track to return to the Yankees when first eligible on May 16.

Oswaldo Cabrera - Sitting Thursday Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Rays.
Impact Cabrera will get a breather after he went 1-for-10 with a two run home run, two runs scored, a walk and four strikeouts during the three-game series with the Athletics. Jake Bauers will take over for him in left field and bat sixth in the series opener with Tampa Bay.

Ben Rortvedt - Reinstated from IL, optioned to AAA Rortvedt (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
Impact Rortvedt was placed on the 10-day injured list in late March after he underwent left shoulder surgery in February and he has been working his way back since. The catcher has yet to appear in a game for the Yankees after being acquired via trade from Minnesota in March of 2022. The 25-year-old will stick with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre where he went 3-for-17 with a double, an RBI and a run scored over five rehab contests.
