Frankie Montas - Injures hand, leaves startMontas exited Saturday's start versus the Angels with a right hand injury, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ImpactMontas was clipped on the right hand while fielding a Luis Rengifo line drive in the bottom of the second frame, forcing him to exit the game early. He tried a few practice tosses, but ultimately was unable to remain in the game after the play. Domingo Acevedo replaced him on the mound and the Athletics will now have to rely on their bullpen for the rest of the contest. Montas will inevitably undergo testing later Saturday and the results will provide more clarity to his health.

Taylor Ward - Won't start SaturdayWard (arm) will not start Saturday's game against the Athletics.
ImpactWard exited Friday's game after crashing into the right-field wall, but he avoided a concussion and is merely dealing with a stinger in his arm. He'll miss at least one game but doesn't appear to be in line for a lengthy absence, though the Angels could still elect to sit him Sunday in order to take advantage of Monday's scheduled off day and give him three full days to rest. Tyler Wade will start in right field Saturday.

Matt Thaiss - Active for Salt LakeThaiss (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list for Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
ImpactThaiss has been out for two weeks with an unspecified issue, but he's good to go again now. He hit a modest .226/.300/.452 in 17 games prior to the injury and probably has to show more than that if he's to push for a return to the majors.

Austin Romine - Heads back to minorsRomine returned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
ImpactRomine gave the Angels' added catching depth when both Max Stassi and Kurt Suzuki hit the COVID-19 injured list in early May. He got into three games, going 2-for-8 at the plate, and will return to the minors with Suzuki now back on the active roster.
