Chris Rodríguez - Starting Monday Rodriguez will be recalled by the Angels to start Monday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Impact Rodriguez has made 13 major-league appearances as a reliever this year, but he'll make his first start in the big leagues during Monday's series opener in Arlington. The right-hander has put up a 3.66 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 19.2 innings in the majors in 2021.

Jared Walsh - Progressing toward return Walsh (chest) has been able to hit and throw and isn't expected to be out for an extended amount of time, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Impact Walsh has been out of action since July 26 due to a right intercostal strain, but he is reportedly doing better. He could come off the injured list Friday when first eligible. Angels manager Joe Maddon indicated Sunday that he expects Walsh to be back before fellow injured-list occupants Mike Trout (calf) and Anthony Rendon (hamstring), both of whom remain without a return timetable.

Mike Trout - Remains without a return timetable Trout (calf) has been feeling better but hasn't yet ramped up his running, per MLB.com.

Impact Trout had begun to run the bases and participate in outfield drills over a week ago, but he subsequently pulled back after feeling discomfort while running. The superstar outfielder hasn't been able to ramp back up since then, though a recent MRI provided encouraging results. According to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, Trout has been given the green light to do more work when the discomfort subsides, but there isn't much clarity about how long that may take.

Anthony Rendon - Yet to do baseball activities Rendon (hamstring) has not restarted baseball activities and remains without a timetable for a return, per MLB.com.

Impact The third baseman is coming up on a month since he last saw game action, but he "hasn't made any noticeable strides in his recovery to the point where he could take the next step in his rehab." According to the Associated Press, Rendon has been putting in work in the training and weight rooms, though that doesn't give much indication about the status of his injured left hamstring. Jeff Fletcher of The Orange Country Register notes that in a conversation with Angels manager Joe Maddon, Rendon didn't seem optimistic about his recovery.

Junior Guerra - Throws three scoreless innings Guerra tossed three scoreless innings against Oakland on Sunday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out three.

Impact Oakland led 8-3 at the time of Guerra's entrance. The Angels were unable to mount a rally, but the right-hander was at least able to keep the A's from tacking onto their lead. The outing was a positive start to August for Guerra, who struggled through a rough July during which he allowed four runs on nine hits and three walks across 6.1 frames.

Sam Selman - Struggles in Angels debut Selman allowed one run on two hits, a hit batsman and a walk while retiring only one batter Sunday against Oakland.

Impact The left-handed hurler got into his first game since being traded to the Angels on Friday. It was also his first big-league outing since May 25, as he had been pitching in the minors for the Giants prior to the trade. Selman struggled Sunday, throwing only 11 of 21 pitches for strikes, though that was partly due to a free pass issued to Matt Olson. He allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base before getting Yan Gomes to pop out to end the inning. If he sticks with the big club, Selman is unlikely to see much high-leverage work considering his lack of experience in that role thus far in his career.
