Tucker Barnhart - Doubles, drives in one Thursday Barnhart went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Thursday's loss to the Athletics.
Impact Barnhart isn't a flashy player, but he's now batting .284 this season, though he only has three RBI in 23 games. He's at least hitting better than Eric Haase, who's stuck with a .140 batting average. That should keep Barnhart in the lineup as the team's catcher most days.

Willi Castro - Keeps rolling Thursday Castro went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Athletics.
Impact Making his fourth consecutive start, Castro kept producing at the plate, as he's gone 7-for-15 during this stretch. He's not quite yet an everyday player, but the 25-year-old is getting an extended look, and he could continue to push Derek Hill for time in center field. Castro is now batting .325 on the season across 16 games.

Beau Brieske - Logs quality start Thursday Brieske allowed three runs (two earned) across six innings and did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Athletics. He walked three and struck out two.
Impact Brieske pitched reasonably well for the fourth straight time to begin his rookie campaign, though he has two losses and two no-decisions to show for it. The righty went exactly five innings in each of his previous three starts, so this was a new high-water mark for innings. Brieske has also allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his four outings, which has propelled him to a solid 3.86 ERA for the season. The 24-year-old will look to keep it up and maybe earn his first MLB win in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Rays.

Michael Fulmer - Takes second loss Fulmer (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk across an inning of work to take the loss Thursday against the Athletics. He struck out one.
Impact Fulmer allowed his first home run of the season in the eighth inning, a two-run blast by Seth Brown, which broke open a 3-3 tie. The righty still has a solid 2.70 ERA, but with the 9-23 Tigers struggling to score many runs, the margin for error is thin for all of the team's pitchers. Despite the hiccup, Fulmer should remain an important reliever in Detroit, typically working in front of closer Gregory Soto.

Bubby Derby - Lands on injured list Derby was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list for an unspecified reason Thursday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.
Impact Derby made five relief appearances at Double-A Toledo to begin the season, and he posted a 6.35 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 5.2 innings. The nature and severity of his injury aren't yet known, and a timetable for his return hasn't been revealed.
