Garrett Crochet - Opts for Tommy John surgery Crochet (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact Crochet sustained an injury in Thursday's Cactus League matchup against Cincinnati, and he'll be forced to miss the 2022 campaign and a sizable portion of next season following his procedure. The White Sox had hoped that the southpaw would be able to transition to a starting role by 2023, but his lengthy layoff could affect that plan.

Adam Oller - Slated to serve as bulk reliever Manager Mark Kotsay said Saturday that Oller will take on a bullpen role for the Athletics to begin the 2022 campaign, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Oller was informed Friday that he'd made the Opening Day roster, and he'll serve as a multi-inning reliever to begin the year. The right-hander made eight starts at Triple-A Syracuse last season and posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 44 innings. He'll be one of the top options to fill in as a spot starter if needed.

Sam Selman - Optioned to Triple-A Selman was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Selman was claimed off waivers by the Athletics in mid-March, but he'll begin the season with the minor-league club. The lefty made four Cactus League appearances this spring and allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four in 4.1 innings.

Impact Manager Mark Kotsay gave Oller the good news right in the dugout as the 27-year-old wrapped up his third outing of spring. Gallegos separately reported that Oller's fastball got as high as 96 mph in Friday's start while consistently sitting in the 93 mph-94 mph range, and that the well-traveled rookie will be in the mix for either a possible rotation spot or multi-inning relief role to start the campaign.

Daulton Jefferies - Another rocky start Jefferies allowed five earned runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings while recording seven strikeouts while taking the loss in a Cactus League game against the Royals on Thursday.
Impact Four of the five runs against the young right-hander came on two-run home runs by Clay Dungan and Vinnie Pasquantino in the second and third innings, respectively. The rough outing boosted Jefferies' spring ERA to an unsightly 10.45 across 10.1 innings, but he's still likely to open the season in the rotation considering James Kaprielian (shoulder) may not be ready for his first turn of the season.
