Starting Wednesday Pivetta will start Wednesday's game against the Rays, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Impact After picking up a three-inning save Saturday, Pivetta is now set to make his 12th start of the season. The 30-year-old holds 6.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP alongside a 25:7 K:BB through 15 innings across his last five appearances, and he'll be facing a Rays offense that ranks second in the American League with a .775 OPS.

Impact John Schreiber got the nod as the opener for Boston on Saturday, and while Alex Cora had hinted before the game that Chris Murphy would be used as the primary pitcher after Schreiber, it was Pivetta who came out of the bullpen to begin the second inning. He allowed just seven runs (six earned) over 28.1 innings across six appearances in July. For the season, Pivetta has a 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 110:34 K:BB through 88.1 innings over 26 appearances (nine starts).
