Impact Neidert limited the damage but faced plenty of struggles in his first big-league start. He allowed multiple batters to reach base in all but one of his full innings, mostly on the basis of his inability to consistently find the strike zone. While he managed to dance out of danger in most cases Thursday, he'll need to clean up his control if he hopes to avoid getting roughed up in his next start -- currently projected to come Wednesday at Atlanta.

Impact Neidert is the next man up in Miami with both Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) and Elieser Hernandez (biceps) already battling injuries. He has a path to remain in the rotation until both pitchers get healthy, but he's not all that interesting for fantasy purposes outside of leagues deep enough that every rotation member is worth a look. Neidert doesn't project as anything more than a back-end starter; he struggled to a 5.05 ERA in nine starts at the Triple-A level in 2019 before allowing five runs in 8.1 innings while striking out just four batters in his big-league debut last year.

Due to a pair of timely off days, the Marlins will be able to get by with a four-man rotation until April 14 in Atlanta, but Neidert likely won't be the first choice to join the big club when a fifth starter is needed. Instead, the Marlins will likely call up Sixto Sanchez at that time.
