INJURIES

Aces second rehab start Lodolo (tibia) struck out six over three scoreless innings while making his second rehab start Tuesday at Double-A Chattanooga. He allowed no hits and walked two in the 49-pitch ap...
Impact Lodolo has now allowed just one hit while striking out 10 across five innings through two rehab starts, the first of which came last week in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The southpaw took the hill Tuesday on three days' rest, but he'll receive the standard four days off before making his next start Sunday at Triple-A Louisville, per MLB.com. If Lodolo is able to build up his pitch count into the 60-to-75 range Sunday and escapes the outing unscathed, he could return from the 60-day injured list to make his next start with the Reds during the team's series in Arizona the following weekend.
AUGUST 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Moves rehab to Double-A Lodolo (lower leg) shifted his rehab assignment Tuesday from the Arizona Complex League to Double-A Chattanooga.
Impact Lodolo looked sharp in his rehab debut this past Friday in the rookie-level ACL, striking out four of the seven batters he faced across two scoreless innings. Out since early May because of a stress reaction in his left tibia, the 25-year-old southpaw is currently trending toward a late-August return to the Cincinnati rotation.
AUGUST 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Rehabbing in rookie ball Lodolo (lower leg) began a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Friday.
Impact Lodolo will begin rehabbing in rookie ball before progressing his way up the minors to face tougher competition. The 25-year-old lefty put up a 6.29 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over 34.1 innings across seven starts and is expected to return to the Reds' rotation before the end of August.
AUGUST 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Bullpen session coming Lodolo (lower leg) will throw another bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports.
Impact If all goes well Monday, Lodolo is expected to throw two innings the following Friday, presumably as part of a simulated game. The left-hander's condition has improved over the last 10 days, and the Reds moved up his expected return date to late August.
AUGUST 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Return date moved up Lodolo (lower leg) threw a side session Friday and is now targeting a return in late August, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Reds manager David Bell had previously suggested Lodolo wouldn't be an option for the big-league club until September. However, the lefty has moved his estimated return date up with his progress since shedding his walking boot. Lodolo still has hurdles to clear before he heads out on a rehab assignment, but teammate Hunter Greene (hip) is targeting an Aug. 20 return and it sounds like Lodolo won't be far behind provided he avoids a setback.
JULY 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Likely out until September Lodolo (lower leg) is not expected to be an option for the Reds until September, MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo did throw a bullpen session Tuesday, which was the first time he's thrown off a mound since he went down with a left tibia stress reaction in early May. He's just now ramping back up after a long layoff, though, and it's going to take a while to rebuild stamina. "That's kind of how I've been thinking about it. It's a little bit tough because there hasn't been a calendar yet," Bell said earlier in July when asked if September was a realistic return date for Lodolo. "That seems right to me."
JULY 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Out of boot Lodolo (lower leg) shed his walking boot and is playing catch, MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo had been throwing from a stool before removing the boot and is now on his feet playing catch. The left-hander arrived at Cincinnati's training complex in Goodyear (Ariz.) on July 3 to begin a throwing program. Reds manager David Bell said Lodolo is taking it slow and will likely return some time after fellow starter Hunter Greene (hip), who is expected to return early August.
JULY 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Beginning rehab program Lodolo (lower leg) will begin a rehab program in Arizona on Monday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo showed improvement in an MRI on Wednesday, and he's been cleared to take off his walking boot in the next few days to begin rehab. There isn't much clarity regarding his return, but Lodolo still isn't expected back until at least August. The 25-year-old lefty held a 6.29 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 34.1 innings before getting hurt.
JUNE 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Won't return until August Lodolo (leg) received encouraging results from his MRI on Wednesday, but he won't be able to return until early August at the earliest, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lodolo is still in a walking boot from the stress reaction he suffered in his left tibia, and he'll continue to wear the boot for at least two more weeks, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The left-hander will miss at least another six weeks while he recovers and rehabs, and the Reds will take plenty of precaution with the 25-year-old before he returns to the mound.
JUNE 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Transferred to 60-day IL Cincinnati transferred Lodolo (leg) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
Impact Lodolo remains in a protective walking boot more than two weeks after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left tibia. This move to the 60-day IL means he'll be out until at least mid-July.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Remains in walking boot Reds manager David Bell said Thursday that Lodolo (leg) will remain in a walking boot for the next two weeks, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact This update from Bell stems from a scheduled two-week checkup on the stress reaction in Lodolo's left tibia. There's no timetable yet for when he might resume throwing, and it's safe to say now that it won't happen before mid-June. With the buildup required once he does finally pick up a baseball again, the 25-year-old left-hander can probably be ruled out until sometime around the All-Star break.

Lodolo likely out long term with stress reaction DENVER -- The Reds learned more about starting pitcher Nick Lodolo's leg injury this week, and the news was not good. A follow-up MRI taken...
MAY 18, 2023 • MLB.COM
Reds LHP Nick Lodolo has stress reaction in left tibia An MRI this week revealed a stress reaction in the left tibia of Cincinnati Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo.
MAY 17, 2023 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM
MRI shows tibia stress reaction An MRI on Lodolo's left leg revealed a stress reaction in his tibia, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Lodolo is in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated with another MRI in two weeks. The left-hander has been dealing with a nagging issue with his leg since spring training and finally went on the injured list over the weekend. It's now looking like it will be a lengthy absence.

Reds put LHP Nick Lodolo (calf) on 15-day IL The Cincinnati Reds put left-hander Nick Lodolo, who has left calf tendinosis, on the 15-day injured list on Sunday
MAY 14, 2023 • DEADSPIN.COM
Heads to 15-day injured list Cincinnati placed Lodolo on the 15-day injured list Sunday with left calf tendinosis, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo was scratched from his start Saturday due to trouble with his left calf, and an examination back in Cincinnati revealed the tendinosis. He'll miss at least two weeks while recovering with a chance for the southpaw to return to the Reds' rotation near the start of June if everything goes well in recovery.
MAY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched from Saturday's start Lodolo has been scratched from his scheduled start Saturday in Miami and will return to Cincinnati to receive further evaluation of his lingering ankle/calf injury, Jim Day of Ball...
Impact According to Day, Lodolo's injury has bothered him off and on since spring training and initially resulted in the Reds pushing his start back from Thursday to Saturday. With Lodolo continuing to experience discomfort despite getting an extra two days of rest, he'll now get a checkup as the Reds look to glean more information on the extent of the injury. Levi Stoudt was scratched from his scheduled start at Triple-A Louisville on Friday and is en route to Miami, so he would presumably be in line to make a spot start in place of Lodolo on Saturday if he arrives at the ballpark with enough time to warm up prior to the game's 1:10 p.m. ET start time.

MAY 13, 2023 • DEADSPIN.COM
Confirmed to start Saturday Lodolo (calf) is listed as the Reds' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Marlins.
Impact Lodolo had been in line to start Thursday's series finale with the Mets at Great American Ball Park, but he'll instead make his next turn through the rotation in Miami after the Reds opted to push him back two days in the pitching schedule while he managed a sore left calf. Provided Lodolo doesn't have any setbacks while he likely throws a bullpen session Thursday, he shouldn't face any restrictions Saturday as he prepares for his eighth start of the 2023 campaign.
MAY 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Next start pushed back Lodolo's next start has been pushed back from Thursday to Saturday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo will get a couple extra days of rest after struggling in his last turn through the Reds' rotation Saturday against the White Sox. He's now set to face the Marlins instead of the Mets with this alteration.
MAY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
The Enquirer Nick Lodolo has a 10.38 ERA over his last four starts, and he's not getting as many strikeouts.
MAY 8, 2023 • CINCINNATI.COM
Gets pulled early Lodolo did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings against the White Sox. He struck out three.
Impact Lodolo was unable to make it through the fourth inning Saturday, marking his shortest outing of the season. Once again, he was plagued by the long ball, giving up solo homers to Hanser Alberto and Seby Zavala prior to exiting. Lodolo has now given up multiple home runs in four straight starts while only pitching more than five frames once in seven appearances. Though Lodolo has shown excellent strikeout stuff (12.32 K/9), his fantasy value is capped by his pitiful 2.64 HR/9 and 6.29 ERA.
MAY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out seven Lodolo allowed three runs on five hits over five-plus innings during Sunday's loss to Oakland. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.
Impact Lodolo was in line for his third win before the Reds' bullpen coughed up the lead. It was his first start of the year without issuing a walk and he improved his season K:BB to 44:9 through 30.2 frames. Lodolo was once again cursed by the long ball Sunday; the three runs against him came on two homers, including Jesus Aguilar's two-run shot in the first inning. Lodolo didn't allow a home run in his first two starts but has been taken deep eight times in his last four outings.
MAY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out six in no-decision Lodolo did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks over four innings in a 7-6 victory over Texas. He struck out six.
Impact After being spotted a one-run lead in the first inning, Lodolo was tagged for three runs in the second, two runs in the third and one run in the fourth, but he was let off the hook for the loss after the Reds made a late-inning comeback. The left-hander has allowed six-plus runs in back-to-back starts, but he still has a strong 37:9 K:BB through 25.2 innings.
APRIL 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles in loss Lodolo (2-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and one walk over 4.2 innings in a 10-0 loss to the Rays. He struck out four.
Impact Lodolo had no answer for the Rays' on Tuesday, allowing 12 hits, including three home runs, en route to his first loss of the season. The young left-hander's ERA balloons from 2.12 to 4.98 after the rough outing. Lodolo has a 31:7 K:BB and 1.71 WHIP through 21.2 innings this season. He's currently lined up to make his next start at home against Texas, where he'll look to get back on track.
