Gleyber Torres - Goes deep Thursday Torres went 2-for-9 with a two-run home run in Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Astros on Thursday.

Impact Like most of his teammates, Torres was unable to get anything going with his bat in the matinee, but he bounced back with a two-hit performance in the nightcap. The second baseman accounted for the Yankees' first runs of that contest with his two-run blast to left field in the third inning. Torres has regained his power stroke with 15 long balls this season after he hit only nine homers across 516 plate appearances in 2021.

Ben Rortvedt - Rehab shifted to Triple-A Rortvedt (knee) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Impact Rortvedt has been out since May 8 after suffering a left knee injury while rehabbing and has yet to make his season debut for the Yankees following the team acquiring him from the Twins via trade in March. He appears to be nearing a return though, joining Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after he went 1-for-12 with three runs and three walks over four contests with High-A Hudson Valley.

Kaleb Cowart - Headed to Double-A Cowart was transferred to Double-A Somerset on Friday.

Impact Cowart hasn't appeared in the minors since 2019 due to an unspecified injury, but he began a rehab assignment in mid-July and will now join the Yankees' Double-A affiliate. The 30-year-old was a first-round pick by the Angels in 2010 but has been unable to secure a significant role over five years of major-league action.
