Stephen Nogosek - Activated and optioned Nogosek (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
Impact Nogosek had been out with shoulder inflammation since late July. It's no surprise to see him head back to the minors, as he's made just a single major-league appearance this season while making 23 at the Triple-A level.

Patrick Mazeika - Moves into reserve role Mazeika is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Mazeika's run as the Mets' undisputed No. 1 catcher ended Saturday, when James McCann (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Expect McCann to handle the bulk of the catching duties for the rest of the season as the 69-68 Mets aim to chase down Atlanta and Philadelphia for the National League East crown.

Mark Vientos - Reaches Triple-A The Mets promoted Vientos from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Vientos' only particularly notable tool is his power, but he's shown enough of that to be one of the Mets' top prospects. In 72 games for Binghamton this season, he's hit .281/.346/.580 with 22 homers. His 28.4 percent strikeout rate is potentially cause for concern, as striking out that much at that level could indicate that he'll whiff an untenable amount by the time he gets to the big leagues, but he has enough pop to offset a fairly high amount of strikeouts.

Chance Sisco - Optioned to Triple-A Sisco (knee) was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Sisco hadn't played since getting banged up in a home-plate collision Friday against the Nationals, though he was serving as the Mets' third catcher, so his lack of game time doesn't necessarily indicate that he's still injured. The fact that he's been optioned instead of placed on the injured list seemingly indicates that he's ready to play, but he'll do so at the Triple-A level while the Mets clear a space for Dominic Smith to return from the injured list.

Dominic Smith - Activated, not starting Smith was activated from the bereavement list but isn't starting Monday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Smith will be available off the bench in Monday's contest, but Jeff McNeil will shift to left field while Jonathan Villar starts at third base. Across his six appearances prior to his absence, the 26-year-old went 4-for-13 with a double, three RBI and a run.

Impact Ruiz took a foul ball off his knee Saturday. He missed Sunday's game with what was originally called knee soreness and will remain out with an updated diagnosis Monday. Alex Avila will catch Patrick Corbin.
