Nursing sore handGuillorme was struck on the hand by a pitch during Sunday's simulated game, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
ImpactThe infielder shouldn't be out of action for long, and could see action off the bench Tuesday against the Marlins or get a start in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game. Guillorme is expected to win a spot on the Mets' bench to begin the season and has gone 6-for-22 (.273) this spring with zero extra-base hits and a 3:5 BB:K.

Not yet throwingLugo (elbow) has yet to resume throwing but is responding well to treatment, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
ImpactLugo isn't behind schedule, as it's been five weeks from the date of his elbow surgery, a procedure which was expected to keep him shut down for six weeks. While he seems to be making acceptable progress, he'll have to spend a few weeks building back up once he's cleared to throw, so he'll likely miss at minimum a fair portion of April.

Knocks in twoBrantley went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's spring game against the Mets.
ImpactBrantley's batting a middling .235 (8-for-34) this spring, but he leads Houston with seven RBI. Since joining the team, Brantley has been a clutch performer, as he's hit .347 (60-for-173) and knocked in 83 runs with runners in scoring position since 2019. Brantley will be Houston's everyday left fielder while batting third or fourth, where RBI opportunities should be plentiful.

Having slow springGurriel went 1-for-4 in Monday's spring game against the Mets.
ImpactMonday's lineup featured several projected regulars, including Gurriel, who played all nine innings. He's just 5-for-30 in Grapefruit League play but is the projected starter at first base. If he doesn't pick it up in the regular season, the Astros could turn to Aledmys Diaz or Abraham Toro.

Looks like starterStraw started in center field, batted eighth, and went 2-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's spring game against the Mets.
ImpactStraw was part of a lineup that looked like a preview of the regular season -- minus catcher Martin Maldonado and third baseman Alex Bregman -- and they all played nine innings. Manager Dusty Baker has not declared Straw the starter in center field, but the 26-year-old has put up strong spring numbers. Straw is 12-for-35 with three doubles, one triple, one walk, three stolen bases and two runs scored.
