Recovered from shoulder injury White revealed Thursday to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com that he suffered a right shoulder impingement over the offseason.

Impact White is thankfully over it by now and believes he can make a strong claim this spring for the No. 5 spot in the Blue Jays' season-opening starting rotation. Yusei Kikuchi is his primary competition for that role. The odd man out will likely wind up in long relief.

Sent down following matinee White was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Impact White served as a bulk reliever during Wednesday's matinee and allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings to take his seventh loss of the year. The right-hander made 25 appearances (18 starts) in the majors this year and posted a 5.45 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 99 innings.

Impact The Yankees got to White early with a three-run outburst in the first inning, and the 27-year-old never really settled in. He needed 69 pitches to get through 3.2 innings before he was pulled from the game. Over his last six starts dating back to Aug. 26, he has surrendered 27 earned runs over 25.2 innings with a 17:11 K:BB.
