Willi Castro - Resting Friday Castro isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.
Impact Castro will get a chance to rest Friday after going 5-for-15 with two homers during the Twins' previous series against the Athletics. Kody Clemens will start at second base in his absence, and Harrison Bader, Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner will patrol the outfield.

Drew Avans - Designated for assignment The Athletics designated Avans for assignment Friday.
Impact Just 10 days after joining the active roster, Avans will now be cast off the Athletics' 26-man and 40-man rosters in favor of Seth Brown after going 2-for-15 across his first seven career MLB games. Avans has slashed .328/.410/.446 across 217 plate appearances in Triple-A, however, which may be good enough to attract interest from other clubs.

Seth Brown - Officially promoted The Athletics selected Brown's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Impact Since being pushed off the Athletics' 40-man roster two weeks ago, Brown has slashed an incredible .500/.512/1.071 with seven homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored across 43 plate appearances at Las Vegas. Eager to capitalize on his hot bat, the Athletics will bring him back onto their big-league roster to replace Drew Avans, who was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

Shea Langeliers - Lands on IL with oblique strain The Athletics placed Langeliers on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a left oblique strain.
Impact Langeliers was removed in the middle of his at-bat in the sixth inning of Thursday's game against the Twins after tweaking his oblique. He'll undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury, but the 27-year-old catcher could be facing a lengthy stint on the IL. The Athletics will turn to Willie MacIver and Jhonny Pereda to serve behind home plate for as long as Langeliers is on the shelf.

Jhonny Pereda - Back in big leagues The Athletics recalled Pereda from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Impact With Shea Langeliers (oblique) headed for the injured list, the A's will call upon Pereda to replenish the big club's depth behind the plate. The 29-year-old backstop has gone just 6-for-36 in the majors this season and will presumably work as a temporary backup to Willie MacIver.

Ryan Jeffers - Idle Friday Jeffers is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Impact Jeffers will be in the dugout for Friday's weekend opener while Christian Vazquez serves behind home plate and bats ninth. Jeffers has gone 6-for-23 with four runs, one home run and two RBI over his last six games.
