Carlos Correa - Receives maintenance day Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Correa will be getting his first day off since July 6 while Nick Gordon takes over at shortstop in the series finale. Dating back to the All-Star break, Correa has hit .192 with two home runs, four RBI and six additional runs while starting in all 13 of the Twins' games.

Byron Buxton - Takes seat Sunday Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Even though he received the day off in Friday's 6-5 win and served as a designated hitter in Saturday's 7-3 victory, Buxton will get another breather for the series finale. The Twins haven't indicated Buxton is still experiencing any lingering body soreness after he missed two straight games earlier in the week, so his absence from the lineup Sunday could simply be a precaution. Luis Arraez will serve as the Twins' DH on Sunday, while Gilberto Celestino gets a start in center field.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Alex Kirilloff - Needs another wrist surgery Kirilloff is scheduled to undergo season-ending ulnar shortening surgery on his right wrist next Tuesday in Los Angeles, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Kirilloff has now missed time on account of issues with his right wrist in three of the past four seasons, so the Twins are hoping that the surgery will address the matter once and for all. It's the second major procedure of Kirilloff's career, as the 24-year-old previously missed the entire 2017 minor-league campaign after requiring Tommy John surgery. Though the Twins expect Kirilloff to get a clean bill of health heading into spring training, he could need some time to regain strength in the wrist and tap into more power. Perhaps due in no small part due to the lingering wrist problems, Kirilloff has already struggled to hit for the sort of power in the majors that many projected during his prospect days, as he owns a .398 slugging percentage over 387 career big-league plate appearances.

Max Kepler - Empty line in return Kepler (toe) went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Kepler missed nearly two weeks with a broken toe, and he didn't partake in a rehab assignment prior to returning from the injured list. The 29-year-old should resume a role as the starting right fielder versus right-handed pitchers. His 0-fer Saturday dropped his slash line to .241/.340/.385 through 86 games this season.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Luis Arraez - Three hits, steal in win Arraez went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, an RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Arraez's bat-to-ball skills have been a bright spot this year, but this was just his third multi-hit effort in 12 games since the All-Star break. It was also his fourth game of the year with multiple doubles. The 25-year-old's seen his batting average slip from .340 at the end of June to .325 after this contest. He's added an .822 OPS, six home runs and 35 RBI while setting career highs Saturday in steals (three) and runs scored (59) through 96 games overall.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Nick Gordon - Records theft in Saturday's win Gordon went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Gordon was involved in a scary collision with Blue Jays reliever Tim Mayza, who left the game with a dislocated shoulder. Gordon was able to stay in and played the full game in center field. He's made himself valuable to the Twins with Byron Buxton battling nagging injuries lately -- Gordon has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, going 14-for-27 (.519) in that span. The outfielder has a .284/.333/.440 slash line, five steals, five home runs, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored through 254 plate appearances. He should still have a regular path to playing time with Alex Kirilloff (wrist) and Trevor Larnach (abdomen) sidelined, leaving left field wide open as well as center when Buxton needs rest.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Jose Miranda - Goes yard in win Miranda went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact In his last 12 games, Miranda has gone 17-for-44 (.386) with five extra-base hits and 14 RBI. The 24-year-old is seeing most of his time at the corner infield spots lately as he continues to force his way into the lineup. The recent surge has him up to a .277/.325/.477 slash line with 11 homers, 46 RBI, 28 runs scored, 14 doubles and a stolen base through 70 contests.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Dylan Bundy - Yields two runs in no-decision Bundy allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Impact It was an unusually short start for Bundy (65 pitches, 45 strikes), with the only blemish on his line a two-run home run to Bo Bichette. It doesn't sound like Bundy had any issues, though it may be part of workload management -- his 93.1 innings this season is his highest total in three years. He's logged a 5.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB through 19 starts, and he's projected for a road start versus his former team, the Angels, next weekend.

Mark Contreras - Optioned to Triple-A Contreras was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.
Impact With Max Kepler (toe) returning to the roster, Contreras' latest stint in the majors has come to an end. Contreras has been on the shuttle back and forth for most of the season. He has a .710 OPS with St. Paul but just a .475 OPS in 12 big-league games.
2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Max Kepler - Back from IL, starting Saturday Kepler (toe) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Impact Mark Contreras was sent down to make room on the roster for Kepler, who will man right field and bat fifth against right-hander Mitch White in his return to the Minnesota lineup. While Kepler has not developed into a star player, he is an above-average contributor when he has the platoon edge (116 wRC+ this season), so he should play against most righties down the stretch.

Messy play cost the Blue Jays an opportunity for a comeback story in loss to Twins The Blue Jays clawed back from a 5-0 deficit against the Twins on Friday, only to lose 6-5 in extra innings.
2 DAYS AGO • THEATHLETIC.COM
Mark Contreras - Opens scoring with homer Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Contreras hit his second homer in four games, both of which came in the third inning of those contests. Those long balls are his only hits through 16 at-bats in August, though he's started in five straight games as the Twins' outfield remains plagued by injuries. The 27-year-old is hitting .120 with four RBI and five runs scored through 26 plate appearances.
2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Nick Gordon - Homer and double in win Gordon went 3-for-5 with a three-home run, an additional run scored and a double in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Gordon has hit a double in six of his last eight games, and he's batted .500 (12-for-24) in that span. His homer Friday was his first since July 2 and his fifth of the season. With the Twins' outfield still battling numerous injury absences, Gordon should continue to get chances to play. He's slashing .279/.327/.437 with 20 RBI, 27 runs scored, 15 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases through 250 plate appearances.
2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Jorge López - Takes blown save Friday Lopez allowed a run on three hits in one inning, taking a blown save in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Lopez allowed three singles, the last two of which came with two outs and allowed the Blue Jays to tie the game at 5-5. He's now 1-for-2 in save chances with the Twins, and Friday's mistake was his fifth blown save of the season. The right-hander has posted a 1.79 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB across 50.1 innings while adding 20 saves and a 4-6 record. Lopez's track record this year should give him some leeway, while Michael Fulmer or Jhoan Duran figure to pick up save chances if he needs a day off or enters a slump.
2 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Tyler Mahle - Yields three homers Friday Mahle allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Friday.
Impact Mahle's new home park, Target Field, is considered one of the more pitcher-friendly venues, but that wasn't the case Friday. The right-hander gave up a season-high three home runs, accounting for all four of the runs he allowed in his Twins debut. The long ball hasn't been much of an issue for Mahle this year, though he's now given up 15 over 20 starts. For the season, he owns a 4.49 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 119:40 K:BB across 110.1 innings. He's expected to draw an easier opponent next week with a projected road start versus the Angels.
