Transferred to 60-day IL Texas transferred Helman (hand) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Impact Helman was placed on the 10-day IL on June 14 after suffering multiple fractures in his right hand after being hit by a pitch. The Rangers decided to move the 30-year-old to the 60-day IL in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. Helman only appeared in 15 games for Texas this season, recording just 35 plate appearances. Jared Kelenic will replace Helman on the 40-man roster.

Shifts to injured list The Rangers placed Helman (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Impact The 30-year-old was diagnosed with multiple fractures in his right hand after being hit by a pitch Saturday against the Red Sox, so the move to the IL is hardly a surprise. It's a literal tough break for Helman, who appeared set for increased playing time after Evan Carter (oblique) landed on the shelf earlier in the day. Alejandro Osuna was called up Sunday to bolster Texas' outfield depth.

Dealing with hand injury The Rangers announced that Helman has multiple fractures in his right hand, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Helman will miss some time for Texas after being hit by a pitch, which caused multiple fractures in his right hand. After being called up on May 18, the 30-year-old has only recorded 31 plate appearances, slashing .179/.233/.321. It has yet to be determined who will replace Helman on the active roster.

Exits after being hit by pitch Helman was removed from Saturday's game against the Red Sox after being hit on the hand by a pitch in the eighth inning, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Helman started the contest in center field after Evan Carter landed on the injured list due to an oblique injury. Helman went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly in his first three plate appearances before being struck by a pitch on the right hand in the top of the eighth inning. Brandon Nimmo, who served as a pinch hitter following Helman's HBP, then remained in the game to play defense in the bottom of the frame while Helman departed. It's unclear at this point if Helman is dealing with a serious issue or if his exit was precautionary, but more information on his status should be coming soon.

Second baseman Josh Smith (lower body/wrist/illness) is also sidelined, and Justin Foscue has been the primary fill-in there. Helman has experience at all three positions.
