Derek Hill - Begins hitting progression Hill (wrist) began a hitting progression Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Hill has been shelved for the past three weeks with a sprained left wrist but has been cleared to begin a hitting ramp-up. He's likely to require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Marlins and it's unclear when he might be ready for that.

Jesús Tinoco - Resumes throwing program Tinoco (forearm) resumed a throwing program Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact Tinoco has missed much of June with a right forearm strain but has been cleared to play catch. The right-handed reliever will likely require a rehab assignment before being activated from the 15-day injured list.

Braxton Garrett - Begins throwing program Garrett (elbow) played catch Monday for the first time since having UCL revision surgery with an internal brace on his left elbow in December of 2024, Christina De Nicola of MLB.co...

Impact It's the first step in a long throwing progression for the southpaw. Garrett will be sidelined for the entire 2025 season but could be ready in time for Opening Day next year if all goes well.

Impact The left-handed-hitting Garcia had started in each of the Nationals' last eight games -- including three matchups versus southpaws -- but he'll move to the bench for the series opener while lefty Carson Palmquist takes the bump for Colorado. With fresh call-up Brady House making his MLB debut Monday and likely to serve as the Nationals' everyday third baseman moving forward, the right-handed-hitting Amed Rosario could end up spelling Garcia more frequently at second base when the Nationals face lefties. Rosario had previously occupied the short side of a platoon at the hot corner with Jose Tena, who was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to open up a roster spot for House.

Impact Though the switch-hitting Bell started in two of the Nationals' previous three matchups with left-handed hurlers, he'll hit the bench Monday as the Rockies send southpaw Carson Palmquist to the hill. James Wood will get a day off from playing the outfield and will assume Bell's usual duties as Washington's designated hitter.
