Impact Hill had been on the shelf since April 18 after initially spraining his left wrist while making a diving catch in an April 8 game, but he's been cleared to rejoin the big club after completing a four-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville last week. Though he initially looked as though he might be ticketed for a fourth-outfielder role upon his activation, Hill could step in as the Marlins' primary starter in center field after Dane Myers (oblique) was placed on the IL in a corresponding move. Kyle Stowers and Jesus Sanchez are also candidates to pick up starts in center when Hill is out of the lineup.

Dane Myers - Shelved with oblique strain The Marlins placed Myers on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right oblique strain.
Impact The severity of Myers' oblique strain won't be known until the results of his MRI are available, but he'll be out for at least the next week and a half after suffering the injury at some point over the weekend. Before getting hurt, Myers had been thriving as the Marlins' primary center fielder with a .340/.386/.528 slash line to go with three home runs and six stolen bases since mid-April. The Marlins reinstated Derek Hill (wrist) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move, and he could end up seeing the bulk of the reps in center while Myers is on the shelf.

Austin Slater - Starting rehab assignment Slater (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Slater is less than a month removed from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, but he has been cleared to test things out in game action. The veteran outfielder should be ready for activation from the 10-day injured list before the end of May if all goes well on his rehab assignment.
