Nearing rehab assignment Manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that there's a "good chance" that Gonzalez (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Impact Gonzalez was hopeful that he'd be able to begin a short rehab assignment this weekend, and he felt good after running the bases Tuesday. As a result, the 32-year-old is likely on track to return to game action in the minors this weekend. If all goes well, Gonzalez could rejoin the major-league club as early as next week.
