Impact The Major League saves leader needed only eight pitches to retire the bottom of Colorado's order and earn yet another save. He's now pitched on consecutive days which makes Melancon unlikely to appear Saturday.

Secures 26th save Melancon fired a perfect ninth inning Tuesday against the Nationals to protect a three-run lead and record his 26th save of the year.

Impact Melancon sent the Nationals' hitters down on just eight pitches, getting each one of them out on weak contact. It was a great bounceback performance from the 36-year-old after he was shelled for two runs in a blown save against the Reds his last time out. He owns a 2.21 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB over 36.2 innings and has converted 26 of his 30 save chances so far this season.

Then, four of the next five batters reached safely, ending on a Tyler Stephenson walk-off single. The Reds have been Melancon's kryptonite with six of his nine earned runs coming against them this season. The 36-year-old has a 2.27 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP in 35.2 innings. He leads all of baseball with 25 saves.

Impact Melancon was handed only a one-run lead, though he had no issue locking down his 25th save of the season. In addition to his strikeout, he also generated two groundball outs to retire Shogo Akiyama, Tucker Barnhart and Jonathan India in order. Melancon has been stellar all season, highlighted by a 1.80 ERA and and 30 strikeouts across 35 innings.

Impact After San Diego took a two-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, Melancon was called on to close out the game for the fourth time in five days. It wasn't the best performance as Los Angeles had runners on first and second with one out, but Melancon got Albert Pujols to line into a double play to close out the victory. The 36-year-old righty added save number 23 to his league-leading total, though a 3.67 FIP compared to a 1.91 ERA suggests Melancon may not be able to sustain this level of performance.
