Inks minor-leage deal with Brewers Richardson signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Richardson elected free agency Thursday after clearing waivers. He's opted to stay with with the Brewers organization on a minor-league deal and will likely suit up for Triple-A Nashville. Richardson has spent most of the 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 60.1 innings.

Opts for free agency Richardson cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Impact Richardson was DFA'd by Milwaukee on Tuesday after making just one appearance with the team, and he'll now look for another opportunity in the open market. The 26-year-old has given up five earned runs in just 3.1 MLB innings this season but owns a 4.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 60.1 innings at Triple-A.

Bryse Wilson signs 1-year deal with Brewers three days after they had designated him for assignment

Bryse Wilson is back with the Milwaukee Brewers three days after they had designated the veteran right-handed pitcher for assignment
AUGUST 11 • Associated Press
DFA'd by Brewers The Brewers designated Richardson for assignment Tuesday.
Impact Richardson appeared in one game after getting called up from Triple-A on Saturday, during which he gave up zero hits and a walk over 1.2 scoreless innings. He'll now lose his place on the active and 40-man rosters to make room for Bryse Wilson, who signed a major-league deal with the Crew on Tuesday.
AUGUST 11 • ROTOWIRE
Selected from Nashville The Brewers selected Richardson's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
Impact Since signing a minor-league deal with Milwaukee in June, Richardson has turned in a 4.20 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 30 innings with Nashville. Although his Triple-A numbers aren't quite excellent, the Brewers will add him to their bullpen to give them another fresh arm to work with. Bryse Wilson was DFA'd in a corresponding move.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs MiLB pact with Brewers The Brewers signed Richardson to a minor-league contract Thursday, Jim Goulart of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Impact Richardson elected free agency last week after being booted off the Reds' 40-man roster. The 26-year-old holds a career 6.67 ERA and 46:39 K:BB over 56.2 innings covering parts of four seasons at the major-league level. Richardson will report to the Brewers' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should move up to Triple-A Nashville soon.
JUNE 11 • ROTOWIRE
Reaches free agency Richardson elected to become a free agent Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact Richardson cleared waivers after being removed from the Reds' 40-man roster, but he's exercised his right to hit the free-agent market rather than accept an outright assignment. The right-hander holds a career 6.67 ERA and 46:39 K:BB over 56.2 innings covering parts of four seasons at the major-league level.
JUNE 4 • ROTOWIRE
DFA'd by Reds The Reds designated Richardson for assignment Tuesday.
Impact Richardson served as the opener Monday versus Kansas City and took the loss after surrendering four runs over one inning, and he's now been removed from both the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Brandon Leibrandt was also DFA'd, opening up roster space for the promotions of Zach McCambley and Luis Mey.
JUNE 2 • ROTOWIRE
Allows four runs as opener Richardson (0-1) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Royals after allowing four runs on one hit and two walks in one inning of work. He also struck out two.
Impact Richardson was facing a two-out, bases-loaded situation when Lane Thomas smashed a 106.3 mph missile into left center field to give the Royals an advantage they'd never relinquish. Richardson was removed after that first inning, and now his ERA sits at 27.00 after just two big-league appearances this year. In 1.2 innings of work, he's given up five earned runs and two homers with a 3:2 K:BB.

JUNE 2 • Associated Press
Drawing short-notice start The Reds announced that Richardson will serve as their opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Royals.
Impact With Chase Burns (illness) being scratched from his scheduled turn through the rotation on short notice, the Reds will turn to Richardson to make his first big-league start since 2023. Prior to being promoted from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Richardson has worked between two and three innings in nine of his 18 appearances in the minors this season, so he should be capable of providing a little more length than the typical opener. That said, Richardson isn't expected to work deep into Monday's contest, so the Reds could count on new call-up Brandon Leibrandt -- who had been starting with Louisville -- to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen.

Selected from Louisville The Reds selected Richardson's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
Impact Richardson has been with Louisville all season, turning in a 4.75 ERA and 1.26 WHIP alongside a 34:14 K:BB through 30.1 innings. He'll return to the majors as a replacement for Pierce Johnson (elbow) and likely be limited to low-leverage work as long as he's with the Reds. Kyle Nicolas was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
MAY 30 • ROTOWIRE
Outrighted to Triple-A The Reds outrighted Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Impact Richardson is no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander finished 2025 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 30:21 K:BB across 37.2 regular-season innings for Cincinnati.
JANUARY 7 • ROTOWIRE
Pushed off 40-man The Reds designated Richardson for assignment Saturday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Following the Reds' acquisition of Dane Myers (knee) from Miami on Saturday, Richardson will end up as the roster casualty necessary to create space on the 40-man. The 25-year-old reliever finished 2025 with a 4.54 ERA and 1.54 WHIP alongside a 30:21 K:BB across 37.2 regular-season innings. However, his 4.06 FIP indicates that he performed slightly better than what his base stats suggest, and there's a chance another team in need of bullpen depth claims the right-hander off waivers.

Sent to Triple-A The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Impact Richardson will be sent down to the minors alongside Yosver Zulueta in order to make room on the active roster for Graham Ashcraft (forearm) and Chase Burns (elbow), both of whom returned from the injured list Thursday. Richardson, 25, surrendered three earned runs in one inning during his lone appearance since being promoted Sept. 3 and now carries a 4.54 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 37.2 MLB frames.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Summoned from minors The Reds recalled Richardson from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Impact Richardson will provide the Reds with a fresh arm after they had a bullpen game Tuesday. He's collected a 3.93 ERA and 30:20 K:BB over 36.2 frames during his time with the big club this season.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to minors The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Back with big club The Reds appointed Richardson from Triple-A Louisville to serve as its additional player for Sunday's MLB Speedway Classic in Bristol, Tenn.
Impact After the Speedway Classic was suspended Saturday in the first inning following multiple rain delays, Atlanta and Cincinnati will resume the game Sunday. Because starter Chase Burns isn't expected to pitch Sunday after tossing a perfect inning a day earlier, the Reds will lean on Richardson and slew of relievers to get them through the contest. Richardson will be a candidate to head back to Louisville immediately after the Speedway Classic.
AUGUST 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville following Friday's game against Atlanta.
Impact The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for Zack Littel, who was acquired by the Reds from the Rays on Wednesday. Richardson has spent most of the season in the majors and has a 4.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB across 34.2 innings this season. He should have an opportunity to rejoin the big club should the Reds need right-handed depth out of the bullpen.
