Impact Rengifo homered in the second inning, singled and scored in the third and walked in the fourth for his fourth multi-hit performance this month. The long ball was Rengifo's fourth of September though he's been a bit feast or famine with no other extra-base hits this month and only three walks despite a decent .262 average.

Impact The 24-year-old continued his productive month, taking Reynaldo Lopez deep in the second inning to stake the Angels to a 2-0 lead. Rengifo hit just .151 through the end of July and was sent to Triple-A in August, but he's bounced back in September by slashing .290/.343/.581 with three homers and seven RBI in 10 games.

Impact Rengifo gave the Angels a 4-0 cushion in the third inning when he connected for a two-run blast off Houston starter Luis Garcia. He also picked up an RBI earlier in the game with a run-scoring groundout in the first. It's been a difficult year offensively for Rengifo, who is hitting .183 in 111 plate appearances, but he's come alive over his last five games with a 6-for-16 (.375) run and a pair of homers.

He had been struggling since his last long ball, entering Tuesday with a .140 average and only two RBI over his previous 57 at-bats.

Impact Rengifo was sent to Triple-A at the start of August and will return to the majors with rosters expanding for the final month of the season. The 24-year-old has a .151/.189/.233 slash line in 91 plate appearances this season but could receive another look down the stretch.

Bound for minors The Angels optioned Rengifo to Triple-A Salt Lake following Saturday's 1-0 win over the Athletics.

Impact Rengifo hadn't started a game since July 20, and because the 24-year-old switch-hitting utility man is still seen as having some developmental upside, the Angels will send him to Triple-A to receive regular at-bats. Los Angeles recalled Kean Wong from Triple-A to fill Rengifo's role as a reserve infielder.
