Impact There were some conflicting reports about whether Milwaukee would be promoting the 21-year-old Tuesday while David Hamilton (hamstring) continues to be evaluated, but the top prospect has now officially been called up ahead of the doubleheader in St. Louis. Lara inked a seven-year, $31 million extension with the Brewers in early June and has been an offensive force at Nashville this year with a .324/.436/.474 slash line, nine homers and 24 steals in 78 games. Milwaukee's starting outfield is currently in good health, so Lara may have to settle for a semi-regular role, unless the club is willing to give him a look in right field over Sal Frelick.

Impact A report from Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com earlier Tuesday indicated that Lara would be called up ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader in St. Louis. While that could still happen, the Brewers won't make a decision until the MRI results on David Hamilton's left hamstring are in. Lara has produced a .321/.432/.470 batting line with nine home runs, 24 stolen bases and a 54:48 BB:K over 78 contests with Nashville this season.

Impact Lara has had a breakout season at Nashville, slashing .321/.432/.470 with nine home runs, 24 stolen bases and a 54:48 BB:K over 78 contests. The switch hitter is primarily a center fielder but has experience at all three outfield spots. Milwaukee's outfield is already relatively crowded, though Lara could eat into the playing time of the struggling Sal Frelick. At minimum, he will likely start against left-handers. Lara is already on the 40-man roster after signing a seven-year, $31 million contract extension in June.

Nets $31 million contract extension The Brewers agreed to a seven-year, $31 million contract extension with Lara on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The deal includes three club options, potentially locking Lara up through the 2035 season, and can max out at $79 million. It's another pre-arbitration contract extension completed by the Brewers after they inked Cooper Pratt to an eight-year, $50.75 million contract extension in April. Lara entered the 2026 season without much hype but has broken through especially from a power perspective, slashing .338/.447/.500 with seven home runs, 18 stolen bases and a 39:32 BB:K over 56 games with Triple-A Nashville. The 21-year-old will need to be added to the 40-man roster once the extension is official, which clears a potential hurdle to Lara being promoted to the majors. Lara could take over as the Brewers' primary center fielder at some point this summer.

Power breakout at Triple-A Lara is slashing .367/.456/.551 with two home runs, eight steals and a 6:8 K:BB in 13 games for Triple-A Nashville.

Impact Lara is known for his excellent speed and outfield defense, and while he has been a productive hitter while being young for his levels, his power has always been well below-average. This year, however, Lara has a .184 ISO after never logging an ISO over .087 in a full-season league from 2023 through 2025. His 103.6 mph max exit velocity is still below average, but his 44.2 percent hard-hit rate is strong for a 21-year-old at Triple-A with his defensive tools. This could just be a small-sample fluke, but if Lara continues to produce across the board offensively, it will only be a matter of time before he's up with the big club.

Impact Lara -- as an 18 year old -- posted a .733 OPS and 39:46 BB:K over 318 PA with Single-A Carolina, and the Brewers are ready to give him a shot at the next level. If he can maintain that type of plate discipline he will have a shot to rise up prospect rankings in the coming years.

Impact Lara has shined since making his first appearance with Carolina in early May, and through 154 plate appearances he owns a .323 batting average and .448 OBP -- marks that would both rank second in the Carolina League if he qualified. That's not too shabby for a prospect who will not turn 19 years old until November.

Impact The 18-year-old is getting his first taste of affiliated ball, and he is making the most of the opportunity, posting an .825 OPS over his first 57 plate appearances. He has recorded only a pair of extra-base hits, but he has shown a key eye at the plate, walking 10 times while striking out only five. Lara signed for over $1 million in 2022, so the Brewers clearly believe in his potential.
