Impact Gurriel has gone 8-for-25 (.320) with six RBI over his last six games. He's logged four doubles in that span, but the homer Tuesday was his first since May 17, before he sustained a hamstring injury. Gurriel is now batting .226 with a .603 OPS, two homers, 19 RBI, nine runs scored, eight doubles and one stolen base over 36 contests this season. He's settled in as the primary designated hitter since Max Kepler returned from an 80-game suspension to take over a platoon role in left field.

Delivers two runs in win Gurriel started in left field, batted seventh and went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cardinals.

Impact Gurriel plated two runs with a single as part of Arizona's four-run ninth inning. He had served as the designated hitter in his last two outings but was back in left field Tuesday. Gurriel's .552 OPS in 2026 is by far the lowest mark of his career, which may be the reason he hit out of the seven hole for a second consecutive game.

Returning from injured list The Diamondbacks activated Gurriel (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Impact Gurriel has been shelved since late May with a strained left hamstring, but he's been cleared to return to action after going 4-for-16 in five rehab games for the Diamondbacks' Arizona Complex League affiliate. The 32-year-old could see most of his playing time at designated hitter for the Diamondbacks, though left field is also an option.

Poised for activation Monday The Diamondbacks are expected to reinstate Gurriel (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday's game against the Angels, GoPHNX.com reports.

Impact Arizona plans to option outfielder Ryan Waldschmidt to Triple-A Reno to clear a spot on the active roster for Gurriel, who has been shelved since May 23 due to a left hamstring strain. Gurriel looks to have made a full recovery from the injury after making three of his starts in left field during his five-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last week, going 4-for-16 with a double and a walk during those contests.

Impact Gurriel has played five of the last six days for the ACL D-backs, switching between left field and designated hitter, indicating he's nearing a return. His eventual addition will create a crowded outfield that's already deep. Corbin Carroll is locked in, but how manager Torey Lovullo manages playing time for Gurriel, Jordan Lawlar, Ryan Waldschmidt and Tommy Troy will be the challenge.
