Impact Tampa Bay will bring Head back on the 26-man active roster as a replacement for outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (wrist), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Head is expected to work mostly in lower-leverage situations out of the Tampa Bay bullpen while he's up with the big club.

Impact Head was called up by the Rays on Friday and pitched in relief during the ninth inning of Friday's loss to the Astros. He allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in one inning. Head will now report to Triple-A Durham ahead of the minor-league season.

Head enjoyed a mostly successful and extensive minor-league career as a workhorse reliever, and he appears set to fill a similar role for the Rays while he's on the big-league roster.
