Handed 10th loss
Gilbert (12-10) allowed two runs on six hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss versus the Angels on Tuesday.
Impact
Gilbert collected a second consecutive quality start with this performance. He gave up a solo home run to Josh Lowe, which was just the fourth homer he's allowed on the road this season, compared to 24 surrendered in Seattle. Gilbert is at a 3.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 194:46 K:BB through 178 innings over 30 starts. The right-hander is within striking distance of the 200-strikeout mark when he heads into next week's start at home versus the Astros.

Records 11 punchouts in victory
Gilbert (12-9) earned the win over Texas on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.
Impact
A two-run homer by Joc Pederson accounted for the bulk of the scoring against Gilbert, and the right-hander was down 3-0 when he threw his final pitch in the top of the seventh frame. However, Seattle stormed back for four runs in the bottom of that inning, putting Gilbert in position for the win. It was a well-deserved victory, as Gilbert racked up 24 whiffs -- the second-most in his career -- and 11 punchouts, a season-high mark. This was the second straight game in which the veteran hurler has recorded double-digit punchouts and his fourth such performance overall this season. Gilbert ranks eighth in the majors with 187 strikeouts on the campaign, and he'll look to get closer to reaching 200 punchouts for the second time in his career the next time he takes the mound, which lines up to be a road matchup versus the Angels.

Done in by long ball
Gilbert (11-9) allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out 10 over 4.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Athletics.
Impact
With the way the ball was flying, it looked more like a game in Sacramento than Seattle. Gilbert fell apart in the third inning when he allowed four homers over a span of six batters, accounting for five of the runs on his line in his worst start of the year. The Athletics have been the only team to hold Gilbert under five innings this season, and they've done it twice in Seattle. Gilbert has a 3.71 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 176:42 K:BB through 165 innings over 28 starts this season. He'll look to bounce back at home versus the Rangers in his next start, though it's notable that Gilbert sports a 4.45 ERA at home compared to a 2.70 ERA on the road this year. He's also given up 26 homers this season, 23 of which have gone over the T-Mobile Park fences.

Settles in after shaky first inning
Gilbert (11-8) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.
Impact
Toronto got off to a fast start with a two-run first inning, but Gilbert was able to limit the damage the rest of the way. The workhorse right-hander has been as steady as any starting pitcher this season, working at least five innings in all but one of his 27 starts while giving up more than three runs on just five occasions. Gilbert is set to bring a 3.42 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 166:40 K:BB over 160.1 innings into a soft home matchup versus the division-rival Athletics.

Gets lots of support in victory
Gilbert (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a win over Philadelphia on Monday.
Impact
Gilbert gave up two runs over his first two innings but settled in and didn't allow the Phillies to score thereafter. Meanwhile, Seattle's offense racked up eight runs through five frames to help Gilbert nab his third straight victory. The right-hander has given up three or fewer runs in each of his past seven starts, though he's pitched fewer than six innings four times during that span. Gilbert will carry a 3.36 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 162:39 K:BB through 155.1 frames into his next start, which is projected to be a road matchup against the red-hot Red Sox.

Labors in win
Gilbert (10-7) earned the win against the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts over five innings.
Impact
Gilbert was spotted an early lead and battled enough to win despite throwing just 58 of 100 pitches for strikes and matching a season high with four walks. While it wasn't his best performance, the 29-year-old has now yielded three earned runs or fewer in each of his six outings since the All-Star break, posting four quality starts and going 3-1 during that span. He'll take a 3.35 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 157:37 K:BB across 150.1 innings this season into a home matchup with the Phillies next week.
