Returns to Triple-A
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old was promoted to the majors Thursday and started at first base against the Phillies, and he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. It was Diaz's first MLB action of 2021, and he'll return to Triple-A, where he has a .225/.282/.451 slash line with four homers in 18 games.

Called up and starting
Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville and will bat fifth and play first base Thursday against the Phillies.
Impact
The 24-year-old made his major-league debut last season but did very little with his 41 plate appearances, hitting .154/.195/.205. He hasn't been good in 18 Triple-A games this year, either, hitting just .225/.282/.451. Nick Neidert (biceps) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Strong start to season
Diaz has a .333/.400/.778 slash line through nine games for Triple-A Jacksonville with four home runs and 12 RBI.
Impact
It's a blistering start to the year for the 24-year-old, who also has four doubles and an impressive 3:4 BB:K on his ledger. Unfortunately for Diaz, Jesus Aguilar is also hitting well at the major-league level, blocking his path to a promotion. It could take an Aguilar injury or trade to get the Marlins' No. 8 fantasy prospect to the majors this season.

Moves to minor-league camp
The Marlins optioned Diaz to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact
Diaz will begin 2021 in the minors after he wasn't up to the task last season during his first taste of the big leagues, when he slashed .154/.195/.205 over 41 plate appearances. The Marlins still view the 24-year-old as a potential long-term option at first base, but he may not get any extended run in the majors in 2021, barring a trade or injury to one of Jesus Aguilar and Garrett Cooper.
