Sent down Saturday Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Diaz was unable to carve out a depth role on the major-league roster after he went 1-for-8 with a double, two walks and a strikeout across four Grapefruit League appearances this spring. He'll begin the year in the minors after slashing .248/.327/.518 with 20 homers, 52 runs, 51 RBI and two stolen bases in Jacksonville last season.

Blasts two-run homer Diaz went a combined 1-for-6 with a two-run home run and a walk while starting in both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader loss to the Mets.
Impact Diaz's fourth-inning blast off Marcus Stroman accounted for the Marlins' only runs in the first game of the twin bill. With Jesus Aguilar (knee) shut down for the season, Diaz will continue filling an everyday role at first base in Miami's final five games. The 26-year-old rookie is batting .257 with five home runs, 10 runs and eight RBI in 19 games since his Sept. 8 call-up from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Launches walkoff home run Diaz went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Pirates.
Impact Diaz's sixth homer of the season was a two-run walkoff shot off Chad Kuhl in the 10th inning. The 24-year-old is swinging a hot bat, going 8-for-24 (.333) with three home runs and six runs scored over his last six games. Diaz pulled his average up over .200 for the first time this season and now owns a .203/.244/.500 slash line through 78 plate appearances.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 • Associated Press
Slugs two homers Diaz went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs Tuesday against the Nationals.
Impact Diaz homered in consecutive at-bats to bring his total to five on the season. Though he's earned only 60 plate appearances in the majors this season, Diaz should be the Marlins' primary first baseman so long as Jesus Aguilar (knee) remains sidelined. Diaz has only a .190/.217/.517 line for the season, but he's struck out at only a 23.3 percent clip and has tallied eight extra-base hits.

Back in starting nine Diaz will start at first base and bat sixth Monday against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact The lefty-hitting Diaz took a seat in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Atlanta with a southpaw (Max Fried) on the mound for the opposition, but the 24-year-old rookie will be back in action for the series opener in Washington. Since being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 8, Diaz has gone 3-for-17 with a triple and a run. Expect him to serve as Miami's primary first baseman while Jesus Aguilar (knee) is on the injured list.

Recalled by Miami Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Diaz was sent back to the minors at the end of August, but he'll rejoin the major-league club after Jesus Aguilar (knee) was placed on the 10-day IL on Wednesday. The 24-year-old has slashed .121/.171/.394 with three homers, five runs and five RBI in 16 big-league games this year and should see the majority of the at-bats at first base against right-handed pitchers.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Returning to minors Diaz will be optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville after serving as the 27th man for Tuesday night's loss to the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Diaz received the start at first base and will head back to Triple-A after going 0-for-3 in his one-game stint in the majors. The 24-year-old could receive another look in the big leagues down the stretch, but he's struggled so far in 16 games with a .121/.171/.394 slash line.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Added as 27th man Diaz is the 27th man for Tuesday night's game against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. He's batting fifth and playing first base.
Impact Diaz has hit .337 with six home runs and 13 RBI since being optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville at the beginning of August. Given his strong production over the last month, the 24-year-old prospect could remain with the Marlins once rosters expand to 28 on Wednesday, although there's been no indication the team plans on keeping him beyond Tuesday.

Returns to minors Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 24-year-old was promoted to the majors Tuesday and appeared in four games during his brief time on the team, going 2-for-13 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and two runs. Even if he returns to the big leagues, Diaz is unlikely to see much playing time this season while first baseman Jesus Aguilar remains healthy.
AUGUST 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled, starting Tuesday Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville Tuesday and will start Tuesday's game against the Orioles at first base, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Diaz was previously on the 7-day injured list at Jacksonville with a mild lower-back strain, but his Tuesday promotion indicates he's gotten past the issue. The 24-year-old went just 2-for-17 during his previous stints in the big leagues this season, and he's slashed just .221/.294/.514 in Triple-A. With that in mind, he's unlikely to see every day at-bats in the immediate future, though that could change if he's able to perform well when given opportunities.
JULY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Working through back strain Diaz is dealing with a mild lower back strain, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Impact Diaz has been with Triple-A Jacksonville since late June, homering seven times in 16 games over that stretch. The injury isn't expected to keep him out for long, and he'll have a chance to return to the majors once healthy.
JULY 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.
Impact Diaz started just one game during his most recent stint with the major-league club, and he'll now return to the minors after Garrett Cooper (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday. He's appeared in 28 games with Triple-A Jacksonville this year and has hit .236 with seven home runs, 22 runs and 18 RBI.
JUNE 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Homers in Saturday blowout Diaz stroked a two-run homer in his lone at-bat during Saturday's 11-1 win over the Cubs.
Impact Diaz pinch hit for Jesus Aguilar in the eighth-inning and didn't take long to make his mark on the box score, taking Tommy Nance deep to extend Miami's lead to 11-0. Diaz has been used primarily as a bench bat during his two stints with the big club this season, with his two hits across 14 at-bats both coming in the form of long balls.
JUNE 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Slugs first big-league homer Diaz launched a pinch-hit solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.
Impact His fifth-inning shot off Max Fried proved to be the winning run and was Diaz's first career homer in the majors. The 24-year-old has yet to get a start since his latest promotion, making only four pinch-hit appearances over the last four games, but Saturday's blast might earn him some additional playing time.
JUNE 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Gets call to majors The Marlins recalled Diaz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, David Wilson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact He'll move up to the big club as a replacement for first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lumbar strain. Diaz will likely serve mainly as a left-handed bat off the bench, as he's limited defensively to first base and isn't a threat to Jesus Aguilar's standing atop the depth chart at the position.
