Harrison will end the campaign with a 4.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB across seven starts (34.2 innings) as he looks to earn a rotation spot to start the 2024 season.

Impact Harrison has struggled across his last three starts, surrendering 12 earned runs across 14.2 frames. Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco also reports that Harrison had lost velocity in his last outing, a factor that may have played a part in the team's decision. Barring an injury to a pitcher, Harrison will have to spend at least 15 days in the minors. Ross Stripling (back) was activated in the corresponding move.

Hit hard early Harrison did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk over four innings against the Guardians. He struck out three.

Impact It was a disastrous first inning for Harrison as the lefty surrendered a walk to open the frame, followed by a two-run homer to Jose Ramirez in the next at-bat. Another two runs would come across for Cleveland in the inning, though they weren't charged to Harrison on account of a fielding error by Casey Schmitt. The rookie has now allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last three starts, yielding six home runs and 18 hits over that stretch. He currently holds a 7.36 ERA this month after maintaining a 1.86 ERA through two August starts.

Impact The Rockies got to him for three runs in the second inning and Nolan Jones added a solo home run in the sixth to end Harrison's night. This was progress from Harrison's last starts, but it still wasn't a particularly commanding effort. He's struck out at least five batters in all four of his starts while posting a 4.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB across 20.1 innings. The rookie is projected for a home start versus light-hitting Cleveland next week, which should also allow him to avoid a visit to Coors Field when the Giants and Rockies clash again next weekend.

Considering he gave up just 10 home runs over 65.2 innings with Triple-A Sacramento in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, Saturday's outing seems like an anomaly. The southpaw is tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Rockies next week.
