INJURIES

Takes no-decision Wednesday Rocker allowed two runs on four hits, four walks and a hit batsman while striking out six over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Wednesday.
Impact Rocker's four walks were a season high, but so were the six strikeouts. In the end, it was an inefficient performance for the right-hander, who was unable to complete five frames with his 97 pitches (59 strikes). Through three starts this season, he has a 4.30 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over 14.2 innings. Rocker will need to improve at limiting traffic on the bases, as that's what has kept him from pitching deeper into games so far. His next start is tentatively projected to be at home versus the Pirates.

Gives up two homers Friday Rocker allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.
Impact Rocker is still in search of his first win, but he's been passable so far with five runs allowed and an 8:3 K:BB over 10 innings across his two starts. The long ball was a problem Friday, but both of the home runs he allowed were solo shots by Max Muncy. Rocker is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road versus the Athletics.

Goes five innings in season debut Rocker (0-1) took the loss Saturday against the Reds, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts across five innings.
Impact Rocker won the fifth spot in the Rangers' rotation during the spring but had his first turn skipped due to Jacob deGrom being pushed back a day with a neck issue earlier this week, so Saturday was his 2026 season debut. Rocker surrendered three straight singles to Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart in the top of the first inning, allowing both of his runs on the three hits. Rocker eventually settled in and threw 80 pitches. Rocker's next start will likely come next weekend in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

Impact Jacob Latz will begin the season in the bullpen after Rocker beat him out for the final spot in the Texas rotation. Rocker was relegated to the minors for the final two months of the 2025 season but delivered generally positive results this spring, finishing Cactus League play with a 4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB in 12.2 innings across four appearances.

Impact Rocker's final two spring starts were very good in terms of results, but the manager specifically called out the right-hander's reluctance to incorporate a changeup this spring, and the need to control the running game. Rocker allowed five successful steals and threw just eight changeups among 185 pitches (4.3 percent) over 12.2 spring innings. His main competition for the rotation is lefty Jacob Latz as well as non-roster veterans Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill.

Finishes strong Rocker allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings in Wednesday's spring start against the Royals.
Impact Texas manager Skip Schumaker was pleased with Rocker's final Cactus League start. "Rocker was pretty electric," Schumaker told Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. "His slider at times was, I don't want to say unhittable, but as good as there is in the game." Indeed, the right-hander's slider played and generated nine whiffs on 12 pitches. Rocker finished the spring on the high note, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 11 over eight innings. He and Jacob Latz remain in the hunt for the final spot in the rotation.

Works three innings Rocker allowed one run on seven hits while striking out one over three innings in Wednesday's spring game against Team Brazil.
Impact This was the third time on a mound this spring for Rocker, who followed starter Jacob deGrom. The statistics in World Baseball Classic exhibitions don't count against an MLB player's results, but it should be noted that Rocker has allowed 14 hits over 7.2 innings of work thus far. He also allowed five hits in two-strike counts. On a more positive note, the right-hander used his in-development changeup six times and mixed in all five of his offerings. Rocker remains in the mix for the final spot in the rotation with Jacob Latz.

So-so outing Thursday Rocker allowed two runs on five hits while striking out one over 2.2 innings in Thursday's spring start against the Brewers. He also hit a batter.
Impact There was much to like about Rocker's second Cactus League outing: he threw seven first-pitch strikes to the 13 batters faced and worked out of trouble in the first two innings. A focus on first-pitch strikes and more use of the changeup are two areas that manager Skip Schumaker is looking for from Rocker. The manager saw the strike-throwing, but the right-hander did not use his changeup. "He's still continuing to try and develop," the manager told Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. "He needs that pitch to be successful. That's why I don't really care so much about the results. We all want to see that changeup." Rocker needs to pitch well during spring training to earn a spot in the rotation, but he also needs more to his mix than just slider/fastball.
FEBRUARY 27 • ROTOWIRE
Makes spring debut Rocker allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two over two innings in Saturday's spring start against the Cubs.
Impact Rocker began his quest for the final spot in the Rangers' rotation. There was traffic on the bases in each inning, and Rocker allowed a stolen base in both frames, which was an issue that plagued him in 2025 (11 steals, 64.1 innings). Texas manager Skip Schumaker said prior to the start that one of the things he was looking for was first-pitch strikes, according to Matt Postins of SI.com. Rocker, who only threw two of them among the nine batters he faced, said he was trying to be too fine. Another area of the manager's focus was the right-hander's use of the changeup, and Schumaker was pleased with what he saw Saturday. Rocker and Jacob Latz are the primary competitors for the available rotation spot.

Competing for rotation spot Rocker enters spring training as a competitor for a spot in the starting rotation, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact Rocker broke camp last season in the rotation but experienced an injury and mechanical issues on his way to a 5.74 ERA across 64.1 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander was eventually optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in August and shortly thereafter shut down to refine his mechanics. "Kumar is in a really good spot," Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said. "I think last offseason, maybe, he got away from some things that he needed to do to have success. This offseason, he's gotten back to those things." The organization's acquisition of MacKenzie Gore left one rotation spot available with Rocker and Jacob Latz viewed as the primary candidates.
