Victorious in return Kershaw (1-0) fired 5.2 shutout innings Sunday, allowing three hits while striking out six batters and earning the win over Arizona.

Impact The 32-year-old ace showed no signs of injury with his strong performance Sunday. All three hits allowed were singles and only put himself in danger one time; with runners on second and third in the fourth inning, Kershaw sat down Kole Calhoun on four pitches to end the inning. Kershaw will get a home start against the Giants on Saturday.

Impact Calhoun's arrival to summer camp was delayed after he was revealed to have tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, but he cleared all protocols and joined the club last Friday. He was then absent from Sunday's workout, but the fact that he was back at work a day later should keep him on pace to be ready for Opening Day. Calhoun is expected to serve as Arizona's primary option in right field after he clubbed a career-high 33 home runs with the Angels in 2019.

Impact Add Ginkel to the list of players that have yet to report to summer camp. He's expected to serve as one of the primary setup men for closer Archie Bradley. David Peralta and Kole Calhoun were among the missing Friday, but apparently GInkel's absence went undetected until Saturday. Regarding the missing players, Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said the same thing Saturday that he said Friday: Guys are completing their intake testing. "I think Major League Baseball has set forth a certain protocol that you've got to arrive, you've got to quarantine, you've got to test, you've got to pass the test. I think it's a small window for very rigorous protocols," said the manager. At this time, teams are not allowed to state whether players have contracted COVID-19 because it is considered a "non-employment-related" issue, though a player may authorize a team to do so.

Impact The lineup manager Torey Lovullo fielded Mar. 9 against the Royals looked like an Opening Day batting order. That lineup had the right-handed hitting Walker fifth behind lefty David Peralta and ahead of lefty Kole Calhoun. Lovullo may tweak the order so that he can alternate right-handed and left-handed batters, but Walker should be comfortable in the five hole. That's where he had his most plate appearances in 2019, when Walker took command of the first base job and swatted 29 home runs. The man he replaced at first base, Jake Lamb, had a good spring, but the job belongs to Walker right now and will be his whenever MLB opens its doors for the regular season.
