Back in action Calhoun (hamstring) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday and will bat fifth and play right field against the Dodgers.

Impact Calhoun had been out since late April after undergoing hamstring surgery. He hit well in 12 games prior to the injury, posting a .292/.333/.479 slash line, and he'll try to recapture that form upon his return. Taylor Widener was optioned to clear a spot on the active roster, while Nick Heath was designated for assignment to clear space on the 40-man.

Impact Calhoun was pulled from his rehab assignment after aggravating the injury while attempting to avoid getting hit by a pitch. An MRI on the hamstring determined no damage to his surgically repaired hamstring. "I don't see this as a huge setback, honestly," he said. "It's just being cautious and making sure that when I do get back out there, it's get back out there and play." Calhoun had been aiming for a return during this week's homestand but no longer knows what a realistic return date might be.

Impact Calhoun will be shut down for several days, per manager Torey Lovullo, who said an MRI revealed "inflammation" in the hamstring. It's the same hamstring on which he had surgery in April. During the second game of his rehab assignment, the outfielder aggravated the injury when trying to avoid being hit by a pitch. The news of a delay in Calhoun's rehab means Josh Reddick, Josh Rojas and Pavin Smith will continue to share right field duties for Arizona.
