Still two weeks away
Davis (quadriceps) is two weeks away from game action, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Davis was shut down with a strained left quadriceps in late March and was originally expected to return in three or four weeks. He's already at least a week behind the tail end of that range. Fellow designated hitter option Willie Calhoun (groin) also remains sidelined, though he appears to be closer to a return.

Placed on 10-day injured list
Davis (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Impact
Davis isn't expected to return before mid-April after suffering a Grade 2 left quadriceps strain in late March. With Willie Calhoun (groin) also injured, the Rangers are expected to rotate players through the designated hitter spot, with Eli White getting the nod on Opening Day against the Royals.

New Rangers DH Khris Davis (quad) will miss start of season
Newly acquired Texas slugger Khris Davis will miss the start of the season for the Rangers because of a quadriceps strain suffered on a bunt single.

Out 3-to-4 weeks
Davis was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his left quadriceps Wednesday and will be sidelined 3-to-4 weeks, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Impact
The 33-year-old suffered the injury during Tuesday's spring matchup with the Angels and will be unavailable for Opening Day. Willie Calhoun (groin) is also out to begin the season, so the Rangers could have a rotating cast at designated hitter early on. Davis could return to action around mid-April if all goes well in his recovery.

Rangers DH Khris Davis injures quad running out bunt single
Texas Rangers designated hitter Khris Davis has strained his left quadriceps and could start the season on the injured list

Diagnosed with quadriceps strain
Davis was diagnosed with a strained left quadriceps after leaving Tuesday's game against the Angels.
Impact
Davis suffered the injury while running to first base. His timeline isn't clear yet, but anything more than a very minor injury at this stage of camp would likely send him to the injured list to start the year. Willie Calhoun (groin) is already ruled out for the start of the year, which could open up playing time as a designated hitter for Ronald Guzman or another projected bench player.

Exits with leg injury
Davis exited Tuesday's game against the Angels with what appeared to be a hamstring or quadriceps injury, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact
It's the second time Davis has left a game in two days, as he exited Monday's contest after getting hit in the head by a pitch. While that incident didn't cause him to miss any time, it's possible Tuesday's injury is a more serious one. With Willie Calhoun (groin) already set to miss time to start the season, a trip to the injured list for Davis could mean first basemen Nate Lowe and Ronald Guzman both find themselves in the lineup on a regular basis early in the season.

Impact
Davis was hit by a pitch in the shoulder/head area in his final plate appearance during Monday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies, but he was fortunate to avoid any significant injury. His return to the lineup a day later confirms he'll be ready to go for Opening Day.

Avoids serious injury
Davis was hit by a pitch in the helmet Monday, though it hit his shoulder first and he avoided serious injury, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The pitch initially appeared to hit Davis directly in the head, though it reportedly glanced off his shoulder first. Regardless, the hit-by-pitch has not caused a serious injury and preliminary reports suggest that Davis is feeling fine. That should keep him in line to serve as the team's primary designated hitter to begin the season with Willie Calhoun (groin) sidelined.

ROTOWIRE
Hit in head by pitch
Davis left Monday's game against the Rockies after getting hit in the helmet by a fastball, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact
Davis' helmet appears to have helped him prevent a serious injury, as he was up and looking fine after the incident, but he'll leave the game nonetheless. Assuming the injury doesn't keep him out long, he's expected to enter the season as the Rangers' primary designated hitter while Willie Calhoun (groin) misses the first two weeks.
