INJURIES

Activated ahead of start Gausman was activated off the COVID-19 injured list as expected ahead of his scheduled Saturday start against San Diego.
Impact Gausman landed on the injured list Tuesday while recovering from the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, but the timing meant he didn't have to miss a single start. He's had a strong start to the season, giving up one or fewer runs in five of his first six starts, including six innings of one-run ball against these same Padres in his last outing.

Aging San Francisco Giants off to hot start in National League West
On track to start Saturday Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Gausman (COVID-19 injured list) is in line to start Saturday's game against the Padres, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Impact Gausman was moved to the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, but his placement on the IL was merely a result of the side effects he experienced from a vaccine shot rather than a positive test or because of close contact with an infected person. Assuming Gausman feels better within the next day or two, he shouldn't face any restrictions Saturday while starting on five days' rest.

Recovering from vaccine Gausman's absence is expected to be a brief one, as he's been placed on the COVID-19 injured list merely due to the side effects of the coronavirus vaccine, Susan Slusser of the Sa...
Impact Gausman's turn in the rotation is due up Saturday, by which point the side effects will likely have subsided. The Giants have yet to officially confirm when he'll return to the roster, however.
MAY 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Out for undisclosed reasons Gausman landed on the injured list for undisclosed reasons Tuesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact The Giants didn't even specify which injured list Gausman was placed on, which typically means he's been placed on the COVID-19 injured list. Per Crowley, the expectation is that Gausman may be on the injured list simply while recovering from the COVID-19 vaccine shot, though that's yet to be officially confirmed. If that's all that's going on with the righty, he should be able to take his next turn in the rotation, which lines up to come Saturday against the Padres.

Impact Gausman's lone blemish on the day was allowing a first-inning solo home run to Fernando Tatis. The 30-year-old Gausman was excellent otherwise as it was his fifth start this season allowing one run or less. He lowered his ERA to a 2.04 while improving his K:BB to 40:11 over 39.2 innings. He's in line for a rematch against the Padres later in the week.

APRIL 25, 2021 • Associated Press
Strikes out 11 in no-decision Gausman hurled eight innings in a no-decision against Miami on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out 11.
Impact Gausman was dominant in the start, inducing 21 swinging strikes and allowing only a pair of hits. His lone mistake resulted in a Jon Berti home run in the seventh inning, but a strong outing by counterpart Pablo Lopez helped keep Gausman from earning his second win. Nonetheless, the right-hander has enjoyed a strong beginning of the campaign, going at least six innings in all five of his starts and registering a 2.14 ERA along with a 34:10 K:BB across 33.2 frames. He'll head to San Diego to face the Padres in his next scheduled start Friday.
