Roughed up in third inning Gausman (2-3) took the loss in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing six runs on three hits and five walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings.

Impact Gausman got through the first two innings with relative ease but ran into trouble in the third. He issued a single and five walks (including two with the bases loaded) before giving up a bases-clearing double to Austin Wells that gave the Yankees a 6-1 lead. Gausman tossed 53 of his 71 pitches in the third inning before being lifted and is now up to a 4.50 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 34 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, tentatively slated for next weekend at home against the Guardians.

Impact Gausman held Houston scoreless through four innings, but Atlanta got to him for four runs in the fifth. Impact Gausman found himself trailing early after Austin Riley took him deep in the opening frame. Gausman cruised from there, allowing four base hits over the next four innings with just one runner reaching scoring position. Matt Olson was able to get a hold of one in the sixth, but the Blue Jays were still leading comfortably. Gausman has posted consecutive starts of six-plus innings and no walks. He's been ace material thus far, posting a 2.49 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB in 25.1 innings. He's set to take the mound again next week versus the Astros on the road.
