Recovering from hip procedure The Orioles announced Monday that Akin underwent a hip adductor repair procedure earlier in the offseason, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Impact The procedure is viewed as a minor one, as the 26-year-old lefty is expected to resume a normal offseason training program within the next few weeks. Before he was shut down for the final two weeks of the regular season due to the left adductor strain, Akin started in 17 of his 24 appearances for Baltimore and submitted a 6.63 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 82:40 K:BB across 95 innings. Assuming he's back to full health for spring training, Akin will likely have to compete for a spot in the Baltimore rotation.
