This was Mejia's first save since May 18 versus the Rangers, and after some bumpy performances in late May and early June, he's seen his high-leverage opportunities decrease. The reliever has a 5.74 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB through 42.1 innings this season, and he's added four saves and six holds.

Impact Mejia entered the game in the top of the ninth inning in a tied game, but he couldn't get the job done. Despite tossing 13 of his 20 pitches for strikes, Mejia walked Kyle Farmer and was later taken deep by Michael Harris, who launched his seventh homer of the campaign. He'd eventually settle after allowing a single to Ronald Acuna, but the damage was already done. This was the fourth time Mejia has allowed multiple runs in his 13 outings and 15.1 innings this season. He owns a 5.87 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 2026, so he's far from being an arm you'd want to trust in most fantasy formats.

Impact The 25-year-old righty will be making his first MLB start Thursday, but because he hasn't covered more than two innings in any of his appearances during the regular season or spring training, he's unlikely to work more than once through the batting order before exiting the game. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer confirmed that Chase Dollander will work in bulk relief behind Mejia on Thursday, per Eli Whitney of BlakeStreetBanter.com.

Impact Houston had already scored twice in the top of the eighth inning when Mejia entered with runners at second and third and only one out. The right-hander impressively put out the fire, getting a flyout and groundout around an intentional walk to prevent any additional runs from scoring. Mejia remained in the game for the ninth and worked a 1-2-3 inning to secure his first save of the campaign. It's worth noting that Victor Vodnik, who successfully converted a save Sunday, had worked on consecutive days, which may have impacted his availability for the ninth inning Monday. Still, given Mejia's impressive escape act in the eighth, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets additional occasional chances to close for a relatively unsettled Rockies bullpen.
