Sent down by Angels Suarez was optioned to the Angels' alternate training site Tuesday.

Impact Suarez (0-2) started the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Astros but was charged with the loss as he allowed five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two over one inning. As a result, he'll attempt to right the ship at alternate camp. Right-hander Luke Bard was recalled in a corresponding move.

Receiving another start Suarez is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Astros, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Impact Suarez had an inauspicious 2020 debut last Thursday against the Giants, recording only four outs while surrendering five runs on five hits and a walk. Though Julio Teheran was more effective while covering five innings of mop-up duty behind Suarez, Angels manager Joe Maddon with give the 22-year-old lefty at least one more chance to redeem himself. Suarez's poor results last week to go along with the tough road matchup with the Astros probably make it best to avoid him as a streaming option.

Impact Suarez had a golden opportunity to stake a claim to a rotation spot following Julio Teheran's move to the bullpen, but he wasn't able to take advantage of the chance and only recorded four outs before being lifted. This wasn't how the 22-year-old lefty envisioned his season debut going. Given his struggles, it remains to be seen whether he will get the chance to make another start anytime soon.
