Fans 10 in first MLB victory
Cantillo (1-3) earned the win over the White Sox on Monday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 10 batters over seven innings.
Impact
Cantillo made things look easy against an unintimidating White Sox lineup, racking up 14 whiffs and carrying a perfect game into the bottom of the seventh frame. The rookie southpaw faded a bit in that inning, giving up a pair of two-out singles sandwiched around a wild pitch that allowed Chicago to get on the scoreboard, but that took only a tiny bit of shine off what was by far the best performance of his big-league career thus far. Given Cantillo's performance Monday, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets another turn in the rotation, though it's not clear how Cleveland would adjust its rotation to fit him in -- his opportunity Monday came as a result of the struggling Ben Lively having his scheduled start pushed back.

Recalled ahead of start
The Guardians recalled Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus on Monday.
Impact
Cantillo will make a start Monday against the White Sox. It had been Ben Lively's turn in the rotation, but Lively has struggled lately and will have his turn pushed back or perhaps skipped altogether. The left-handed Cantillo has produced an unsightly 7.71 ERA and 15:9 K:BB over 18.2 innings in four starts and one relief appearance with the Guardians this season.

Expected to be called up Monday
Cantillo is expected to be called up from Triple-A Columbus and start Monday's contest against the White Sox, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact
Cantillo was optioned to Columbus on Aug. 27 after he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings against the Royals in Game 1 of the team's doubleheader that day. The left-hander has appeared in five games with Cleveland this season, including four starts, producing an inflated 7.71 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 18.2 frames. Cantillo will replace Ben Lively in the Guardians' rotation Monday and it's currently unclear when Lively's next start will come.

Sent down
Cantillo was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
Impact
Cantillo's demotion was expected after he served as the 27th man in Monday's doubleheader versus the Royals. He's pitched to a 7.71 ERA over 18.2 innings in the majors this year. With an off day Thursday, the Guardians may be able to get by with a four-man rotation until Alex Cobb (fingernail) is ready to return, which means Cantillo could be staying at Triple-A for a while.

Works late in Game 1
Cantillo didn't allow a baserunner over 1.2 scoreless innings and struck out one in a 4-3 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader.
Impact
Cantillo was scheduled to pitch in the game but didn't appear until the eighth inning, as the Guardians opted for a true bullpen game in the matinee rather than an opener/bulk reliever format. This was Cantillo's first scoreless appearance in five major-league outings this season. He now has a 7.71 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB over 18.2 innings. He was the 27th man for the doubleheader, so it's likely Cantillo will be returned to Triple-A Columbus before Tuesday's game.

Recalled, set to pitch in Game 1
The Guardians recalled Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus prior to Monday's doubleheader with the Royals.
Impact
Cantillo is expected to pitch in the first game of the twin bill, likely serving as a bulk reliever once opening pitcher Nick Sandlin exits the contest after working an inning or two. The Guardians had previously deployed Cantillo as a traditional starter in each of his prior four outings with the big club, but the lefty submitted an 8.47 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 17 innings across those contests. Cantillo is expected to be returned to Columbus following the twin bill.

Set to work behind opener Monday
Cantillo will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Nick Sandlin in the first game of the Guardians' doublehead...
Impact
Cantillo had started in each of his previous four appearances with the big club, but manager Stephen Vogt will have the young lefty work behind an opener with the hope of generating better results. The 24-year-old had been roughed up over his four starts with Cleveland, recording an 8.47 ERA and 1.76 WHIP while striking out 14 and issuing nine walks over 17 innings. He's likely to be returned to Columbus following the twin bill.

Could start Monday
The Guardians will designate Cantillo as the 27th man for Monday's doubleheader against the Royals, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The Guardians have yet to officially announce their starting plans, but Cantillo and Logan Allen are the favorites to get the starting nods. Cantillo was demoted to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, but he can make a quick return to the majors due to the doubleheader. The 24-year-old has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues this year with an 8.47 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB over 17 innings.

Impact
The Guardians have yet to officially announce their pitching plans for the twin bill, but Cantillo and Logan Allen will both be called up from Triple-A and should start the two contests in some order. Cantillo was demoted to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, but he can make a quick return to the majors because he's being designated as the 27th man. The 24-year-old has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues this year with an 8.47 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB over 17 innings.

Heading back to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Cantillo to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.
Impact
While making his fourth start of the season for the Guardians on Wednesday against the Yankees, Cantillo was dealt a third consecutive loss after yielding seven earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings. Despite being optioned to Columbus, Cantillo could still be a candidate to get called up again Monday, when the Guardians will require two starting pitchers for a doubleheader with the Royals. However, with Cantillo now owning an 8.47 ERA and 1.76 WHIP through 17 innings with the big club, the Guardians could be compelled to go in a different direction.

Tough night in New York
Cantillo (0-3) took the loss Wednesday as the Guardians fell 8-1 to the Yankees, surrendering seven runs on six hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Two-run homers by Juan Soto in the first inning and Aaron Judge in the third accounted for most of the damage off the rookie southpaw. Cantillo got the hook after 88 pitches (50 strikes), and he's now served up six long balls while walking nine batters in his first 17 big-league innings, highlighting how much work he'll need to do to improve his control and command before he'll be a viable fantasy option. With Alex Cobb (finger) out until the end of the month, Cantillo is likely to get at least one more start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Royals.

Recalled ahead of start
The Guardians recalled Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus in advance of his start Wednesday against the Yankees.
Impact
The lefty will pick up his fourth career MLB start after yielding nine earned runs on 15 hits and six walks while striking out nine over 13 innings across his first three outings with the big club. Following Wednesday's game, Cantillo could stick around with the Guardians to make another start during Monday's doubleheader with the Royals, but he could be optioned back to Triple-A after that if Alex Cobb (fingernail) is able to return from the 15-day injured list later on in the week.

Likely to start Wednesday
Cantillo is likely to start Wednesday against the Yankees, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The Guardians have yet to name a rotation replacement for Alex Cobb (finger), but Cantillo has as locker in their clubhouse at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. The lefty has made three previous starts for Cleveland, allowing nine runs with a 9:6 K:BB over 13 innings. Cantillo will tentatively line up to make an additional start early next week during a doubleheader versus the Royals.
