Impact Entering the game with the Mets down 2-1, Familia gave up a couple one-out baserunners but was able to escape the jam, and the right-hander was rewarded with the win when the team rallied in the bottom of the frame. Familia has reeled off 11 straight scoreless appearances to reduce his ERA to 0.84, but his 1.59 WHIP on the season suggests his luck won't last much longer.

The right-hander still has an electric fastball, and his 96.9 mph average is the best mark he's recorded since 2015, but his inability to command it keeps him from consistent high-leverage use.

Impact Familia only threw six of 13 pitches for strikes but got the job done and received the win after Pete Alonso gave the Mets the lead in the bottom half of the eighth with a solo shot to right-center. The 31-year-old has given up only one run in his last seven appearances but his 4:4 K:BB over that span suggests he's still struggling to find the strike zone at times. Familia will remain locked in as the team's setup man unless Edwin Diaz sustains an injury or begins to massively struggle.

Impact Robert Gsellman got the start but only lasted two innings, and Familia was the most effective reliever to follow him, working the fourth and fifth innings on a night when the Mets offense erupted for 11 runs. Familia has had a couple of rough appearances this season -- he walked three batters and was charged with two runs in only two-thirds of an inning Saturday -- to inflate his 4.32 ERA and 1.68 WHIP, but he now has a win and two holds in eight outings and remains part of the high-leverage crew in manager Luis Rojas' bullpen.

Despite his solid results so far, Familia still appears to be behind the likes of Seth Lugo and Dellin Betances for high-leverage opportunities.

Feels good after shutdown Betances faced seven batters in a simulated game Sunday and indicated that he feels healthy and ready to go ahead of the 60-game season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Betances had already been cleared for full activities back in the spring, but he looked fairly rusty at that time after a lat injury and a partially torn left Achilles' tendon limited him to just one big-league appearance in 2019. The right-hander indicated that baseball's three-plus-month hiatus allowed him to complete more rehab for the Achilles injury from April through June at Impact Zone in New Jersey, where he was able to throw live batting practice against several other MLB hitters. Manager Luis Rojas seemed similarly encouraged by how Betances looks early in summer camp, as he named the 32-year-old as a potential member of a closer committee that may also include Edwin Diaz, Jeurys Familia and Seth Lugo.
